It is 3 lbs, It comes in both 1 & 3 lbs . A lb averages 3-4$ per lb. I bought this and got a 3lb bag

Q: Can I add this to beverages to give malt flavor?

Malt like this is not actually malted milk, but it is an ingredient of it. Technically you would mix this with powdered milk, and some put sugar, salt, cake flour, and/or sodium bicarbonate. There is a lot of variation. Not all people use all ingredients, but those are typical ones you may see. Yes this works very well no matter the ratios and other ingredients. This really is the most important one. I am very happy with it. I made malted milk powder using this plus other ingredients and it is amazing

Q: is this good for backing, to replace sugar in bread/pizza making?

Probably not unless in small quantities and mixed only with other dry ingredients. It is very fine maltose, which cakes up very easily in the presence of moisture/humidity. If exposed to water, its consistency becomes like hyper-concentrated melted marshmallow. It must be dissolved in water in order to use, but if baking, I imagine it would be safe if it were first mixed with other dry ingredients before adding water.
