Better than antipated and perfect sizing for stern lighting project
I had to replace the base on my vintage glo-pole stern light and the original base, circa late 50's, is extremely rare and was unable to be found. I found a standard NOS two-prong base that fit the size requirements, removed the prongs and decided that I would replace the incandescent lighting in the base with an LED light. Bought these and found that their shape, especially the 3/4" lip below the diodes fit perfectly down the shaft and with a little grinding got the base to extend down past the end of the shaft so it could be secured with the light socket. Project now complete and have used it on a couple of late evening cruises. The glo-pole lighted by the LED bulb is super bright, much brighter than the original incandescent light.
