This is a must for making English style FlapJack - thick oatmeal pan cookies. It takes about a tin and a half to make one recipe. That's fine for the occasional batch, but even at the price, this container makes them much more cost effective. Friends ask them and they're easy to make so I oblige. This came shipped in an over packed box and arrived safely. The syrup is very dense and the container could break if not packed well. The container was in a slightly larger box surrounded by crumpled brown paper. That box was put in a larger box with additional craft paper packing. I'm sure some of you are cringing at all of that, but it really is necessary to prevent breakage. So expect a pretty big heavy box if you order this. btw I also use this to sweeten my tea, it adds a subtle flavor I enjoy.

I am so happy to have found Tate and Lyle Golden syrup in bulk. This stuff is delicious and the price is great compared to the little tins sold here in the US. Many people have asked what golden syrup tasted like. I'm 53 and it tastes like the coating on candied apples sold at fairs when I was a child. It is just wonderful and there is nothing else like it. There are some recipes for making your own golden syrup. Now that I've tasted the real thing, I will have something to compare the recipes online with. This Syrup is the real deal from the UK. Yummy.

The big box was delivered on its side and there was some leakage , maybe a cup , otherwise fine

Knew this would be a great product; since I've ordered the one pound cans of Tate and Lyle Golden Syrup numerous times in the past. However, I was concerned about a box arriving with a ruptured 16 pound jug of syrup, all out in the box! Not the case at all. The product was well packaged and arrived without any leaks. It is much more convenient pouring out of this jug than trying to spoon what you need out of the small one pound cans. Would recommend this product for anyone needing a large quantity of syrup; I think the label indicated it to be 1.35 gal.
