Great looking product
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this product to place my mini mixing desk or laptop during my live performances. I think that I am going to use it for more things, such as tambourine and other percussions. I was impressed by the light weight and the ease to set up. All you have to do, after unboxing it, is to screw the tray on the tripod as on my video and you are set. As for the height, it is also very straightforward, like the in the video. Something I forgot to show in the video is that, besides the legs, you can also raise the tray by using the crank handle at the top of the tripod. It adds up another 10cm on average. Finally, the product looks great and stable enough to hold a projector or anything similar to that weight.

Does the job intended. . . . but be aware.
In general I'm happy with the overall quality of this tripod and it does the job for what I intended. I wanted it for using with my new home cinema projector allowing me to position it at different heights and location around my house.1 negative - Maybe it's just the one I received, but when winding the extension to it's highest using the handle, with the weight of the projector (which isn't over heavy, average laptop weight) if you don't screw the locking screw up straight away then it crashes back down to the bottom. This might seem obvious, but when you come to adjust down and unscrew the locking screw, if you aren't supporting the platform/projector it does the same even if your holding the winding handle. Other tripods I've had will support the weight as you hold the handle or wind up or down, not this one, the teeth just slip through until you lock it up.Not a deal breaker for me now I know how it does this and I don't need to adjust it too often, but something to be aware of if this is the same in them all. (avoids a scary crashing down of your equipment) - as I said maybe mine was a faulty version.Otherwise very happy with this purchase. 4 stars due to possible dodgy/faulty winding extension.

Happy with this product.
After trying to perch my projector on a camera tripod without any success. It was time to look for something better, and I've found it.first I extended the legs, checked the spirit level, and that was almost spot on,attached the plate and strapped on the projector. The horizontal projection was slightly off.there was no reason to mess about with anything else.just slip little bit of folded cardboard under the projector until its level. From the start to finish was less than five minutes. Conclusion. Well made produt, value for money, cant really find a fault with it.and that's good enough for me.

Central telescopic column unusable - does not stay up!
Whilst a great idea - this is a really poorly built item. The tripod itself is lightweight (of the flimsy, rather than expensive kind) - but to be fair, it does stand as firm as would be needed for a lighter projector, as ours is. The tray the projector sits on is also good enough for the task in hand, and the elastic straps and non-slip mat are a useful addition. However, this is massively let down by the central telescopic column which is entirely useless. It extends by means of a winder which is attached to a cog/toothed-column. This raises rather tentatively - but then crashes down suddenly, and randomly at any point. There's no way of locking it in place - as despite turning the handle back in, which would usually prevent this type of lift from returning back down, this does nothing - as the cog and teeth are not tightly enough connected, meaning it simply slips down - bringing your projector crashing down with it.If you don't need it to raise higher than just the base tripod - then maybe this would work for you (as long as you're happy it's a flimsy bit of kit) but if you need the extra lift, you should look elsewhere. It's a shame - but I'm putting a return request in as it's simply not fit for purpose.

Uncomplicated
The Vankyo stand telescopes to a good height. Simple to use. Has a spirit level which is useful and a large plate surface that your gadget, in my case a projector, can sit on. Additional elastic straps help to secure my projector to the plate and avoid the simple accidents. It is lightweight and folds away in seconds, amd takes a minute or two to erect. Not very sturdy but this is to be expected, and I guess you need to sacrifice portability for sturdiness. It does have a handle on the central pole helps you carry it about but is over the top in my opinion. It does what it says it does and you won’t have to replace it anytime soon.

I don't normally leave less than positive reviews but...
What I like about this:The "platform" that your projector/laptop would sit on is reassuringly weighty. The extending legs of the tripod and their clips are quite firm to operate - so they don't unclip easily, and the legs don't "fall" open. I like this. It gives a sense that it's not going to quickly collapse. The tripod is quite sturdy when open.On to the bits I'm not so happy about:The "wind up" centre bit (not sure of the terminology here) - I think that the ratchet teeth are too shallow, as it skips while winding up.The fastening for the platform onto the tripod is where I'm most disappointed - when I was assembling it I found it difficult to screw the tripod into the platform. Closer inspection showed that the screw thread was slightly misaligned with the hole when it was welded onto it's mounting plate, so it wasn't possible to screw the tripod in more than 1 turn. Easy fix - just flip it over (already unscrewed it to see what was going on). It works, but it's unsightly. So, all-in-all somewhat disappointed, however, a tripod projector stand in the hand is worth a dozen in the warehouse.
