The Early Years

This album has all the songs that were on the first 2 Eluveitie albums Ven, and Spirit which means that it is filled with the vigor and creativity that a band has in its early years. In addition, the songs have been remastered, or re-recorded so that they also possess the sound quality of songs from the newer albums.I bought this album along with all other available Eluveitie albums after hearing them on youtube a few weeks ago. I haven't been able to listen to anything else since then! The guitar is heavy, but not overbearing. The melody is stimulating, but not dizzying. At first, as a guitar player I was thinking "Man, what if that was another guitar playing the melody and not the hurdy hurdy, it would be perfect!", but it didn't take long for me to get over my pro-guitar bias and become totally hooked on this album!if you've heard this album on youtube, or on Eluveitie's facebook page, and you love it, please show your support by buying it here, or at least take a few seconds to leave positive feedback.If people like me who love this kind of music would show some support, then there would be more of this, and less hip-hop and bieber.

I saw this group live last week and started with ear plugs because they were the third group and my head was aching. But I had to pull out the ear plugs once I heard their first song - this is a rare and amazingly talented group that deserves a listen by anyone curious about death metal, celtic music, and the like. The growling took some getting used to when my son first exposed me to this genre but now I can't get enough of it, especielly because of this group. Give it a try - everyone seems to think Slania is their best so maybe give that a try first, but you won't be disappointed in any of their CDs.

I have some mixed feelings about some of the re-recorded songs on this CD. Some are positively great re-recorded, but i personally feel some should have been left alone. Good CD none the less and its interesting to see how a band evolves.

These guys deserve a lot of respect first off. They're all fantastic musicians. This CD also has the album Spirit in it. I was NOT trying to spend 30 dollars on their Spirit album. Great folk metal is what I have to say. I gave it 3 stars because in my honest opinion, they could do a little better. They're an awesome band, but you gotta in a certain mood for it. They tend to lose my focus after the 3rd song. I am a musician myself so maybe I am being too critical. I recommend this album if you want to hear something different. keep the metal faith alive. Very well put together album. The songs are all fantastic. Eluveitie has done an wonderful job by rereleasing these songs to the public.

Good, but I like Evocation and Slania much more.

Die neu Auflegung der Songs in diesem Album tat der Band definitiv nicht gut. Hier wäre es besser eine erneute Pressung der alten Werke als " Re Release " zu veröffentlichen
