Help Your Kids with Math: A visual problem solver for kids and parents

I bought this for the school children in our home. This book has helped them when the teacher was not available to help anyone.I was afraid of trig' all my educational life, but this book showed me I can and have known all along how to measure angles, which is the heart of trig. Not afraid of that any more. Lack of information was all that held me back in life. This book helps all the way through Algebra. Worth every penny.

This book is a truiumph for DK. It is arguably the best illustrated and presented book of its type ever written. It's a must for parents whose children find basic mathematic concepts difficult. Teachers could learn a great deal from the way this book brilliantly presents these concepts in an manner that almost all children can readily understand and remember. The overall layout, sequencing of subjects and presentation is something for which DK books are world leaders, but in this book the reach new heights. The editorial team led by the BBC TV famous presenter Carol Voderman is to be congratulated on their achievement. A huge thanks is due to them from grateful parents and well done DK! Brilliant stuff!

I teach 7th grade math and recommend this book to kids as a resource. It's great for the basics. Don't understand base 10? Haven't mastered long division? Fractions make you stabby? This book can help. It also covers some algebra, trig and statistics topics. Overall very good. Nice examples, easy to read.I think it is published in Canada or Britain, so some terminology is different. For example, what we teach as scientific notation is called standard notation in this book.

This book helped me so much to relearn my math skills. I'm a substitute teacher, but have been out of school for almost 40 years, this book was fantastic to refresh me on my fractions, and to actually teach me many math skills in order to teach children math. Many of the students that have seen this book (because I always have it with me in classrooms) have asked their parents to buy it for them because it has helped them understand the concepts in a clearer way. I never thought I would ever be able to get a grasp of algebra until I got this book. I'm amazed at what it has taught this "old dog"!

The visuals really help with learning key concepts.

I tutor math to elementary, middle school, and high school students. I use this book extensively along with Math On Call. However, I should add this book is not aligned with the Common Core Curriculum. That being said, this book should not be dismissed. The lay-out along with the succinct explanations have proven invaluable.

I like this book it's great. I recommends this for home school and any parents who can us this, to help all age children.

Well done, simple quick math help book. Teaches some mental tricks not in most textbooks. Very much like my teachers taught me... Highly recommended if you need to help your kids with math. Only drawback. It covers a lot of subject matter and does not give lots of examples. A parent will need to write examples for their student to practice or use this book alongside their regular text. Overall, good rating.

They say once you leave high school you will never use algebra again, well they lied. My son started grade 7 and i immediately realized that everything i had happily forgotten was now essential in helping him with his maths but as all of his math work is done online there was no handy course book to help! I ordered this book through my local library to see if it was worth purchasing and to say that it is amazing is to understate how useful this book is. All i can say is that 3 hours after taking it home i ordered my own copy. The book is highly visual, concise and extremely effective in its explanations of math. The book is so good that we are ordering it for our own town library so other parents can have access to this wonderful book. Buy it, you won't regret it!!!

Very good book, but parents have to know maths themselves!!

A great overview of Math concepts.

Purchased this book for my grandchild. She is learning a lot in her math. I would recommend this book for children very early in their school education.
