Rich yet easy on the stomach.
This tea/coffee has a rich flavor. I drink it without cream or sweetener. I feel very relaxed after a cup. I get three good cups per bag. No jitters, just a pleasant, grassy taste.

Great taste
The tea is surprisingly smooth.

The fire roasting overpowers the natural flavor
It was just bad. Unfortunately, the fire roasting process made it taste like soot, with none of the flavor of the plant showing through. I had read that the roasted version was similar to black tea, but it was not at all. I was expecting a flavor similar to Yerba Mate, as they are both in the holly family, but it was just unpleasant all over. I will still try Yaupon Holly in the future, just not a roasted version. Brewed one cup, took a sip, poured it out and threw away the rest. A shame really, i was excited to try it.

Robust alternative to coffee
Ordered this because in the past, I have made my own Yaupon tea. This product has a robust flavor, not quite like espresso coffee. It may take a bit of adjustment to get accustomed to the flavor, but in the end is a reasonable alternative to coffee. For the record, my preferred coffee is the Bustelo brand.. - a strong espresso coffee. Yaupon tea may be more robust than the coffee you are used to.

Please read before Buying!
I want to start this review by saying what I did like about the tea. I would say the hype is real when it comes to the caffeinating, and the feel of alertness and calmness one gets with this tea. It was quite good and I could see it being a decent substitute to coffee. The one thing people should be aware of. is the flavor and aroma. If someone enjoys smoky flavors of Mezcal or a smoked cocktail, then they might enjoy this tea. Since it is very smoky in aroma and flavor. I for one do not and should have read more reviews about it before buying.

Why I use Yaupon Tea?
I did research on Yaupon tea, the Fire Roasted Yaupon Tea is American sourced and will be replacing my organic coffee since the tea is American source has additional nutrients not in mountain grown or organic coffee. I especially like not grinding beans or dealing with coffee grinds in bulk, while tea bags are very convenient. I use fresh and whole foods sourcing and reducing processing is a goal since I am also using cocoa nibs, hemp hearts, flax seed, Cylon cinnamon, real olive oil, etcetera for nutrients of enzymes, protein, ployphenials, etc.

It is a fine tea
The black drink. I grew up in South Alabama and am familiar with Holly tea, the only plant in North America that has caffeine. It makes a fine tea.
