Great Cage! Beats the Kaytee Critter Trail Extreme Challenge for Size, Cleaning, and Hamster Happiness
My son has two robos and we originally purchased the Kaytee Critter Trail Extreme Challenge Habitat (just three months ago). The Kaytee cage was incredibly difficult to clean and the wheel makes a complete mess. You have to take the outer tubes off to thoroughly clean in, and those tubes are really wedged in there. We frequently had to result to removing the bedding with gloved hands. This IRIS cage is much, much easier to clean. Just unsnap the side locks and the bottom tray is free to be dumped in a trash bag. It's also larger in comparison to the Kaytee. The base is about the same size as the Kaytee, but it's much taller and the bottom tray is deeper. It reminds me of a medium sized bird cage. Finally, the quality seems really good. The instructions even have warning about the ideal home temperature for hamsters, so you can tell the creators did their research. If you count the bottom tray, it actually has four levels for hamster enjoyment.UPDATE: We have had the cage for a week now. What a difference is has made! The robos can easily run on this wheel and do so ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Luckily it sounds like a coffee percolator, so it's not that annoying. If you don't sleep with white noise and you put the hamsters near you, I imagine you're in for a long night. But anyway, they NEVER ran in the wheel in the other cage. And we can actually see our hamsters now! We've finally learned how to tell them apart thanks to the clear plastic front. In the other cage, the bars and colored plastic made it difficult to view the hamsters, who always seemed be on the bottom level. They are so easy to see in this IRIS cage. I highly recommend it for Robo or other dwarf hamsters. One warning, though: when the hamsters first entered the cage, they were so happy they made suicidal jumps from the top level. Over and over again. But thanks to a lot of bedding in the bottom, no one was hurt. They haven't done it since that first hour.

Absolutly love this hamster house!
I ordered this house for my son's new hamster. She is still small but not expected to get too much bigger and this fits her perfectly. She seems to love the different levels- we hide treats on every floor. The little house it comes with is super cute and she hangs out in there during the day. The wheel is a good size for her with some room for growth and very quiet! Much more than the metal wheel we have for our mice. It is a bit tedious to clean- I just start at the top and scrape everything down to the floors below until it's in the bottom then remove the cage off the top and clean/ replace bedding. It doesn't take too super long and is worth it :) I love the clear front, it lets my kids see "Marshmellow" and all her activities very clearly as apposed to a totally wire lined cage. Only the sides are lined with wire and the back has a super cute backdrop. It's a great deal, seems to be more space than the 10 gallon glass tank we initially had her in, comes with a wheel, house, food tray and great climbing opportunities when you consider the three "staircases". My son loved that there were different color choices as well, he was able to order his favorite color, a red house for his new friend.

Not for all hamsters
Let me start with saying this is actually a nice cage. Being that there is only wires on the ends of it, it is a little more enclosed for a critter. We are, however, returning it for a refund. The only problem we have with it (yes there is only 1) is that there is not enough cage to it for our syrian hamster to attach all that she needs. The wheel is too small and her bigger wheel doesn't fit through the hole provided so we would have to have it in there on a stand and that took up too much space. The shelves are not sturdy enough for as big as she is (and still growing). She will be the size of a sweet potato when fully grown (and probably as heavy). It is a great cage for a dwarf hamster or something of that size.I read a review where someone said their hamster cage door didnt stay closed... you have to first pull the lock mechanism outward then upward then push it back and it will lock. For the person who said their hamster escaped out of the top, you have to make sure once you close the top lid, push down towards the edge of the cage to lock it. To open it you push back then pull up.The locking mechanisms are wonderful. The access to your tiny critter is great as well. The little house is cute and could be used to take your pet to the vet or on trips since it has a lock tab for the door.To the person who said their hamster suffocated in the house in their bedding, I highly doubt that happened. First off, if your hamster can't breathe through their bedding, you are using the wrong kind. If they are trapped by their bedding you are using too much. There are ventalation holes in the house so air can get in easily. Our Syrian could easly fit in the house comfortably. They don't need a lot of bedding. I'm guessing your little one unfortunately died of other causes.I just wish there was a bit more space, a bit more bars, and a little larger hole for the wheel knob to go through and then we could have kept this cage. Since there isn't, it just won't work for our big girl.
