Sony RX100V Cyber-Shot Digital Camera 20.1MP CMOS Image Sensor - DSC-RX100M5A/B

Superb Quality Compact I have used this product for about one month. This camera is the best point and shoot I have ever owned. I usually shoot with a DSLR camera. I came from shooting on a full frame camera. I must say that the imaging on this camera is very good. I can't really compare it to my Canon 5D Mark III head to head. However the lens and compact camera body are very high quality for a compact. Being able to shoot at apertures from 1.8 to f11 is pretty good for a camera of this size. Having a focal range of 24-70 is limiting, but the image quality is very good. ISO range is from 100-12,800. I have not tried shooting very slow shutter speed or quick shutter speeds. I do know you are able to shoot at shutter speeds of 32,000. This camera can also shoot a very fast burst rate of 24 fps up to 150 images then starts to slow down. There is now 315 points of focus using phase detection. The autofocus is very quick at 0.5 seconds. I primarily used this camera for photography. The view finder is small, but very usable. It is able to show 2.35 million dots of resolution. I did try using the video features and I was very happy with the video quality. I used 1080p at 60 frames. I used the xavcs format utilizing the 50 MB/second data speed. I refrained from using 4K because of the 5 minute cut off. Also I do not shoot to much in 4K. The HD 1080p was more than satisfactory for me. I give this camera 5 stars because I think it is one of the best cameras of 2016 in a compact body.

My wife refused to take RX1R II during her trip to Italy because it is relatively big and is not zoomable. What good is a camera if it is not getting used? So I sold that camera and bought this one, and she's so happy about it. Its almost unbelievable that Sony packed such powerful features into such a tiny body. Yes, the camera was released Oct 2016, and now (May 2018) the series is due for a new model, but it's still (almost) the best point-and-shoot camera at similar price. 1" sensor is small compared to APS-C and full frame, but is large enough considering its size. Most other point-and-shoot cameras have a larger body and even smaller sensor. The lens, when retracted, is so short that allows the camera to be fit into bags easily, but the performance is no compromise. It is equivalent to 24-70mm f/4.9-7.6 on FF, providing usable low-light performance and noticeable shallow depth-of-field effect. And can you believe that it comes with 315 phase detection AF points? That's more than many professional cameras have! AF is so fast and precise, and it's reliable for capturing fast moving objects. And 24fps shooting speed is higher than ALL APS-C and full frame cameras I'm aware of. Furthermore, they managed to put a retractable flash and viewfinder in such a small body. The viewfinder is the standard configuration for any professional camera and this camera is no exception despite of its size. In real use, this camera adds almost no weight and size to your bag. Image quality is superb. Although 20MP is not very high, every pixel is sharp. This camera is for you if any of these is true: * You want to be able to zoom through 70mm (compared to 28mm prime lens on the phone). * You want better low-light performance compared to phone. * You want some level of depth-of-field effect. * You want super fast continuous shooting speed. * You refuse to carry even smallest mirrorless camera because it's still too large for you.

I love the camera! The quality is very nice and shipping was very quick as well! Overall, a very pleasant experience!

Update 7/30/19: So I went to Costco and bought a new memory card. The card is rated at the same speed as the one I bought from Amazon. Same slow write speed so I know that the camera is defective, not the memory card. This Sony disappointment is being returned to Amazon. Original Review: I did a lot of research before buying this camera and had high hopes. I am buying a small pocketable camera to replace my big, cumbersome Canon 30D. My main requirement was that it would take better pictures than my iPhone XS Max. If it doesn't, then there would be no point in having the camera since I always have my phone with me. The Good: Build quality seems solid. Form factor is amazing. This thing is tiny and can slip into most pockets. Great specifications compared to other point and shoot cameras. The Bad: The buttons are tiny. I have no problem with it but if you have large fingers, this could be a problem. No touchscreen so navigating the extensive menu is not that convenient. The Ugly: I don't know if I have a lemon or what, but this camera is not anything like what's been described in all the reviews. I will be returning it for a refund or a replacement. Autofocus is slow and not accurate. A bunch of my pics are blurry. My iPhone has better autofocus! Write speed is the slowest I've ever seen of any digital camera that I've owned dating back over 20 years. It is slow despite that fact that I'm using a SanDisk card that is rated for 170 MB/s. It takes about two or three seconds to write each image. This is simply not acceptable. The slowness made me lose some potentially great shots. will troubleshoot to see if the card is defective but for now, given the other troubles I'm having with the camera, I'm presuming it's the camera. Auto setting is simply disappointing. I haven't dug into the manual settings yet, but I am judging the camera based on auto function since the camera will be used by multiple members of my family, some of whom wouldn't know how to use manual functions. On auto, the camera is not very smart. I was taking a pic of my daughter with a relative bright background. My iPhone did a wonderful job allowing the pic to display my daughter's face clearly (although a bit dark) and the background clearly. With the Sony, my daughter's face was seen as clearly as with the iPhone but the background was completely white so I could not make out any details in the background. Hope this review helps. I'm hoping that I just got a lemon and that a replacement would fix all of the above described problems.

La cámara la analice un mes completo antes de comprarla y por tanto también los precios. En Amazon la encontré al mejor precio y estoy encantado. Una de las características que buscaba era que se pudieran enviar al teléfono las fotos y de ahí compartir a las redes sociales y eso es muy sencillo de hacer con esta cámara. El lente tiene una apertura 1.8 y te permite capturar con un bokeh excelente, es un muy, rápido enfoque y todo en tamaño práctico ya que cambie una DSLR por este equipo. Llegó en perfecto estado y a tiempo.

El sensor es muy bueno, y los colores son bastante vivos por sí mismos. Viniendo de un modelo más viejo, se nota bastante la mejora.

It takes clear photos and I am quite happy with it. It is very tiny, so great for travelling but for guys with big hands, it might be too small.

Much has been written about the Sony RX100 series on the internet, so I won't re-invent the wheel here. My background is about 30 years of professional and semi-professional photography. When I evaluate a camera after a few months of using it, I always ask myself the following question: Would you take this as your only camera on a year-long trip around the world? With the latest generation Sony RX100V, the answer is: Absolutely, yes! The image quality is excellent and can hold its own even compared to cameras with bigger sensors. The sensor has a remarkable dynamic range and the high ISO noise levels are comparable to full frame cameras a few years back the likes of a Nikon D700. And that's not bad! Overall I would not be afraid to publish photos out of the RX100V in any high-gloss magazine in any size. The image quality is good enough for any professional work. The camera has an overwhelming amount of functions for both still and video imagery. Fortunately, the camera can be customized to your taste and skill level. The menu system is cumbersome, but once you set the camera up to your liking, menus hardly have to be accessed. New in this version of the camera - and the main reason I bought it - is the ability to customize your own menu, which allows me to only see the functions I really need. The pop-up viewfinder is fantastic and unique for a camera is compact. The camera is really hard on the battery, so plan to buy 2-3 extras to get you through a full day of shooting. The other two items to get for this camera are: a) the additional hand grip, which Sony should include in the first place. b) a third party filter adapter which allows you to add filters like a polarizer. The Sony filter adapter does NOT work for this camera (it vignettes). Buy the Lensmate or Magfilter adapters. Now, before you shell out the cash for this rather expensive camera, you should keep in mind that the camera does not take the photos. You do. If you go to many image forums, you will find many bad and average photos taken with the Sony RX100 series. The reason for that is that people believe the sheer amount of functions in those little cameras can compensate for a lack of talent. They can't. If you are a novice or beginner, you should also set aside some money to take a camera course.
