Canon EOS R50 V Mirrorless Camera (Body Only)

super fire. 10 bit color, clog3 and updated autofocus give this camera an image quality of its much more expensive canon stablemates/siblings. it also is a great rival to the sony zv e10 mk 2. for almost half the body price. however, it does not have a viewfinder if you’re a super photography and viewfinder kinda person. but it takes great photos using the screen and takes excellent videos. You also have false colors and zebra’s for finding perfect exposure. It’s Threaded on the body for vertical use on a tripod. even has camera modes you can save settings to for example. i have profile 1 for cinematics 24fps, clog3 etc but you can set a profile for 60fps clog3 and quickly switch profiles by twisting the dial on the top rather than flipping thru settings trying to switch and needing to remember to switch back to 24fps (or whatever is desired, i shoot music videos so being able to switch to and from “broll mode” is amazing.) point being you can set this thing up with multiple profiles tailored to your style and have them ready on the dial on top of the camera. i use it with a sigma 18-35mm 1.8 so i cant speak on the kit lens. I personally would stay away from the kit lens and go for something better if you can help it.

Honestly, for the price, this camera can't be beat... Combine this with the SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 RF mount lens and it's a great combo for vlogging, recording, and even filming cinematic shots. The CLOG/CGamut color profiles do great in edit to save highlights when filming, and the auto-focus eye/face tracking hasn't lost tracking yet. I wasn't sure if this camera or another one for our purposes (like a Panasonic Lumix, or Sony)... but this has been GREAT. If you're saying to yourself "I need the best budget camera and lens combo that will level up my quality" then this is the camera you need. I only say that with the pairing of the specific lens I use. I also have an ND Filter for it, and a super fast SD Card... While the stabilization isn't great, that's really a minute point and shouldn't deter you from getting this.. find a way to keep it steady HA! It also takes great photos... I added those to the review. Fairly easy to use if you take the time to learn the menu. And the size for vlogging with the vertical mount option is great. Unless your wanting to spend over $1000 just for a camera body, get this camera/lens combo.

It's all what it's hyped up to be. And more. However, it's extremely light. So light it feels cheap. If you're starting out, and this is your first camera, you have nothing to compare it to, so it's OK. But if you've had experience with other cameras, you'll feel the difference. But, I never said it was a negative thing. It helps keeping your bag and shoots more convenient when you realize you have to add lenses and other accessories. But what I would recommend is that you get a cage. It just feels right with a cage, without, there's barely any camera to grab on to. And I have small hands, so that's saying something. I got the SmallRig for this model. But the brand is up to you. When it comes to specs... It's all there, it has it all, everything you need to learn and to develop and to improve your creativity and skills. It's not a "beginners" camera. It's a camera beginners can work with just fine, as well as more advanced photographers (I've been shooting for 10 years). The only downside is the lack of viewfinder. I will definitely miss that.

I purchased the Canon R50 V a few months ago because I was looking for a smaller, more compact camera with interchangeable lenses, mainly for video work. While it can take photos, this camera is clearly designed with content creators and videographers in mind. One feature I really like is the dedicated “Live” button, which quickly brings you into the streaming settings. From there, you can easily configure live streaming to platforms like YouTube and others. It’s very convenient if you plan to use the camera for livestreaming. The camera uses an APS-C sensor with an RF mount. You can use full-frame RF lenses, but keep in mind there will be a crop. I’ve been using the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN, and it pairs great with the R50 V body. It’s compact, sharp, and has reliable autofocus—overall a great match for this camera. Video Performance & Limitations In terms of video, the R50 V performs well, but there are a couple of important things to know: * Shooting 4K at 30fps can cause the camera to overheat after about 30–35 minutes of continuous recording. * Shooting 1080p (30fps or 60fps) is much more stable, and you can record for around an hour without overheating. The camera includes a 3-stage electronic image stabilization system, which works well for handheld shots. However, it does introduce a slight crop, which is something to keep in mind when framing your shots. Audio & Usability Audio quality is solid for this class of camera. It supports 2-channel and 4-channel audio recording, which is a nice bonus if you’re working with external microphones or more advanced setups. The camera is very compact and lightweight, making it great for travel and everyday use. It’s also beginner-friendly but still offers manual controls and settings you’d expect from more advanced cameras. Photo Capability Even though it’s video-focused, the R50 V can still shoot RAW photos, and image quality is good thanks to the APS-C sensor. That said, I personally use my Canon EOS R6 for photography and keep the R50 V primarily for video. Things to Keep in Mind * No electronic viewfinder (EVF), which might bother some users—but it makes sense for a video-focused design * Battery life is on the shorter side, especially when shooting 4K * You’ll definitely want to buy extra batteries if you plan on recording for extended periods. Overall, the Canon R50 V is a fun, compact, and capable camera, especially for beginners getting into video or content creation. It offers strong features, good audio options, and excellent portability.

This is a great little camera, video is really nice, a lot of options, canon clog3, and for pictures, is awesome too, very compact, yes it doesn’t have a view finder but neither do phones, O own an R6ii and an r8, and this little one stays in mi backpack most of the time for casual I, everyday stuff

Awesome value for photography and of course video work. It’s very sleek for a APS-C camera - autofocus is insanely fast, and is a massive upgrade compared to older Canon DSLRs, at least those that I have used. Its controls can be a bit confusing but you get used to them, and the battery life isn’t the best, so I recommend getting several spares to have on hand. One annoyance is requiring a hot-shoe adapter so you can use an older flash properly… but at least that’s less than $50… It would also be great if Canon would bring In-body Image Stabilization (IBIS) to its cheaper cameras, but that’s probably asking too much.

This is an incredibly good camera, especially for live webcam streaming. Very simple to use, if you're a canon menu person it's the same as most other canon menus. This camera works great with the inexpensive 18-45mm RF lens that some people have given poor reviews. We use it every day for a live webcast and couldn't be happier with the performance of the camera.
