This junction box worked great for splicing together a 30' outdoor rated 16/3 extension cord that I had cut so I could push the cut cord through an existing small opening in a composite deck surface and avoid drilling a hole to pass the extension cord plug through. Since the large diameter of the 16/3 extension cord made it necessary to remove the O-rings/gaskets from both ends of the junction box, I used a liberal amount of clear silicon caulk to seal the ends. Even without the 0-rings, the self tightening end caps of the junction box seemed to grip the extension cord well. I zip-tied the extension cord at both ends of the junction box to an existing plastic electrical conduit under the deck and above ground to prevent the junction box connections from being stressed or broken if the extension cord was inadvertently pulled. The circuit I used this junction box on is GFI. I don't think I would be comfortable using it on a non-GFI circuit. Be aware that the screws that hold the wires to the six terminals are tiny and could easily be lost if they are backed out too far and dropped. If you are installing this junction box outside in a grassy or mulched area, I recommend covering the work surface with a tarp or similar to catch the screws if they are dropped. Installation of this junction box requires a Phillips-head screwdriver with a very small tip. The attached photo shows the junction box zip-tied to the plastic conduit and inadvertently picked up the image of the fountain reflected in an adjacent window.

Notes from an Electrical Engineer:1. Do NOT use this to repair an extension cord or power cord that will ever be under stress... like power tools, for example. There is no protection from lengthwise pulling on the wire and the only thing holding them in place are tiny screws. It needs to have clamps on both ends to handle any serious pull.2. If the cable you are repairing is round, it might actually be waterproof, but I would not suggest using this for a device that would be near dampness. And flooding it would trap water inside... think about that.3. Well made, smartly designed for certain circustances, but not a serious splice by any means.4. For a power line that you are going to bury outside, I would recommend using an 8 to 10 inch length of 1" PVC with screw on caps providing insulation over the connections and at least an inch or two of good caulk on each end.It's a cute little splicer that you can use for outdoor LED lighting, but only if the wires are carefully placed so that no one trips over the wire. Use at your own risk, but think it out carefully.

Well made easy to use. Note the wires are secured by placing into the openings and tighten with the set screw. The wire are not designed to "go around the screw."

Seems to ne water tight but did not want to take chances and sealed the wire inlet end with clear silicone. The wire-securing screws look cheap and was scared to tighten them all the way(?) for fear of stripping the threads. Still holding though and the assembly does not feel warm to touch, indicating loose/ dangerously faulty connection.

The product received was substantially different than described and therefore had to return it due to it not be suitable for its intended purpose. Complete waste of time. Would strongly recommend any potential buyers choose a different brand.
