RF Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communications, Second Edition (Artech House Microwave Library (Hardcover))

Read an RF/Microwave power amp paper, chances are that you'll find this book cited as a reference, and its no surprise since everything is very well explained and the material covered is extremely useful. Most of what needs to be said, has already been said by the other reviewers, however the only major gripe is that the Excel worksheets provided in the CD and used throughout the entire book do not work properly with Microsoft Office 2010 and above, the author should upload a corrected version of these very useful files for proper analysis.

Cripps has a solid reputation for his books on power amplifier design, but I wondered whether a revision would contain sufficient new material to be worthwhile. I was pleasantly surprized by the expanded material, and the new insight into high efficiency designs in particular. Cripps has a special talent for tackling difficult topics and providing a thorough but understandable treatment. I highly recommend this book. It covers power amplifier design from class A to F. He covers load pull techniques, trade-offs between architectures, basic design, power matching, power combining and many other practical issues in power amplifier design. His writing style makes it easy to understand and his references allow more in depth study on the different topics that he covers. Very comprehensive book which gives to the reader an deep understanding and knowledge with all what related to RF power amplifiersnothing will replace a practical experience but it's good to start with learning this book working and then return for deep understanding

Really lots of typos and errors, did not explain clearly for many parts.

Master Blaster of Power Amplifiers. Thats what Cripps is. If into Power Amplifier Design, ofcourse you dont have a choice. I brought other titles too, but really, they just stand in the shelf, unread.

Nice book

This second edition has added 120 pages of new material and revised much of the first edition material.The author addresses common misconceptions and overlooked phenomena with explanations and simulation results.

If you're looking at this book, you probably know already, but this is a real bible for an RF power amplifier designer and is one of the best all round references available. It is extremely well written and Steve Cripps shows none of the tendency that bedevils books of this sort to be unable to communicate ideas to people who don't share his high level of intelligence and expertise. It is straightforward to follow and entertainingly written.I find it hard to say anything critical about this book: it is a must have on the shelf of any RF PA engineer.
