Charged up and used. Great 6 filter electric system. Compact and works well. I charged it by plugging it in to my high speed charger. I haven't used the solar panel charger yet. The tubes do need to be laid out so there is no kink in the tubes. When doing this outdoors this is easy. Indoors when trying to use it without making a mess is a different story. I have found as I got older, I seemed to get a mild version of Montezuma's revenge when I travel outside of the area I live. Being a scientist I hypothesized that this might be due to a local bacterial/viral load in the water. Since I started using filters to treat water while traveling, I have had no issues with this. If you have any type of arm pain, an electronic filter like this is ideal. It works great fits in it's carry box with enough space for an extra pre-filter. It even comes with a small carabiner clip to attach to a strap, if you are hiking or going out on a trip. Also, given the issues with forever chemicals in todays world, this does have an Activated Carbon Filter section which does remove some of these chemicals. It is easy to use and the input and output ports are protected that helps to keep them from getting contaminated.

It feels bigger/heavier than I expected, but that was my fault for not paying attention. However, I wanted the features that it had, and there is always a compromise somewhere. Considering the price, I am tickled. Everything worked as hoped, and it has held up on the trail. I don't know what to say about water filtering capabilities other than to say that I never got sick, so?? But again, it's hard to say if it was because of the superior water filtering capability since I didn't have anything to compare with. I.E., I never drank the water without a filter to know if it was contaminated. Sometimes you can taste the water, and it has a slight odor if the water was stagnant, but after a few filters of the same glass of water, it was easily drinkable with little unpleasantness. One thing to mention is the battery life rocks, and this thing pumps fast. I love the manual backup too. Remember, if one is none, then two is one. Sometimes, redundancy is good.

I sometimes lecture on how to plan for water in a disaster. Since purchasing this BLLES filter, it has become a centerpiece of my show and tell. It's options on how to use are terrific: manual pump, electric charged pump, solar charge pump. It covers the bases. And it has enough flow to easily provide the recommended 1-gallon per day.

I purchased this and took it to my family in Jamaica, who has suffered major damage due to hurricane Melissa. This was among some of the other things that I purchased, but was the lease that I was thinking about just happened to put it in my shopping cart cause it looked neat. A week later it turns out it is the best thing that I brought to them. Right now, drinking water is running out. They don’t even have much left at the stores and even the stores that do have them, the price has gone up and a lot of people don’t even have access to money at this time. My husband and his family were able to collect rainwater and fill up 35 gallon jugs of fresh drinking water filtering the rain water through this. The solar feature is amazing because of course they don’t have power right now. Very very pleased.

Used this while camping. Let’s be honest was really skeptical but it worked. Surprised and a great product. Now it takes a min to understand the process how to use, but after reading how to use it was exactly what it says it does.
