A good brush that stands up against carbon buildup without damaging the surface!
Of course you can use an old toothbrush to clean your pistols or rifles but, having a brush that’s made specifically for such a purpose really enhances your overall cleaning capabilities. The main brush end is sculpted slightly so that it can be used on different contours. The brush stands up against carbon deposits and will not mar the surface while the small brush end really goes into the rails perfectly. The nylon bristles really stand up to heavy cleaning. After I use the brush, I soak it in a little dish detergent mixed with water and then rinse it for use the next time. Otis makes quality products and I’ve never had any issues with the brand.

This is what you want
They make several different kinds of brushes for cleaning firearms. Soft nylon which is usually white, Kors nylon which is blue and then bronze copper brass and steel. I probably use blue nylon for 90% of my cleaning applications. They are hard enough to really get through all but the most stubborn carbon deposits and soft enough that they will not damage the finish of your firearm. There are basically two brush designs, one with a curved brush head and one with a flat straight brush head with a notch in the bristles. I find the flat notched version to be much more agile for getting into the nooks and crannies of a handgun. So I like the design of these and the materials are good quality at a reasonable price. These brushes are quite durable I can probably do about 150 cleanings before I would need to change brushes. Contrast that to my bronze brushes which probably last no more than 10 cleanings because the wire bristles get easily bent out of shape. These brushes have a smaller tip on the end of the handle to let you get into smaller areas like cleaning the chamber. Are used to use toothbrushes but since I discovered blue nylon they have been my go to brushes and these are my go to brand. The pics show my brush pretty dirty up after about 40 cleanings and then what it looks like when I rinse it out with just hot water. Also showing the precision brush on the handle and there’s a white nylon brush that shows the other curved design of the brush heads in contrast with the more narrow straight design which these have and I find much more practical.

Very helpful and firm bristles
With working on a CNC machine and cutting out pieces of wood and cutting small holes it can be difficult to get into those small spaces and try to get out little fibers of wood that may be still attached. These brushes have been very helpful in brushing those out or so that they come up and I can sand them off. They came in a basic zip lock back which is very convenient. I just take one out and put the rest in my drawer for when I need them. The bristles are very firm and able to get into those tight spots and brush out those bits I am looking for. They make for easy clean up on my wood. I haven't had any issues with bristles getting bent or losing their sturdiness. The main handle is is easy to hold like a pencil. This is a very well made product.
