Awesome!
I can't believe no one else has reviewed this yet. I think this is an amazing book to learn about the entire country of Canada. It is told from the perspective of a family traveling across their country. Guy, and his ten year old sister, Rachel are typical siblings who have very different interests, but they all find something great in each province and territory in Canada. The trip starts in Vancouver, British Columbia and continues east to Nova Scotia, then heads north and back through the 3 territories. Each chapter focuses on one province or territory and includes maps, photos, drawings and lots of fun facts that appeal to kids. There is so much information here, it could be a textbook, but it looks so fun that kids will read it for entertainment. You'll find history, geography, great places to visit and lots of trivia. If all you know of Canada is they have lots of snow, and say 'eh' a lot - this book will educate you to many wonderful things in this country!

Fun, interesting, and we learned a lot!
My two middle school kids read this cover-to-cover while we were planning a trip to Canada. I didn't even have to encourage them; it really got their attention as soon as they saw it. It's very engaging, with plenty of kid-friendly humor that manages to avoid being obnoxious for adults. I'm impressed!

My daughter has really enjoyed this book. I'm using it as part of a unit on Canadian Geography in our homeschool.

She loved it and picked it up by herself to read ...
I bought this for my 9 year old grand-daughter who lives in Boston. She loved it and picked it up by herself to read it after we looked at the content.

Didn't hold our interest
This book is the story of a fictional family who travel across Canada, visiting famous landmarks as they go. I bought it because I wanted a highly readable book that described important Canadian landmarks and what made them important. The book really didn't say a lot about the landmarks, but mainly focused on family interactions. The parents and children all seemed like cartoon characters created for the purpose of presenting the landmarks, so the human interest wasn't too satisfactory, either. This book might give children a useful glimpse into what the upcoming trip will be like--long car rides punctuated by stops at places that don't interest them much--but it isn't very helpful for children or adults who don't know much about Canada and want to learn about places to visit.
