A Masterpiece
Whether you are a map maker or a map lover, this book is a fantastic deep dive manual of cartography in the digital era. There is so much to learn about the craft of map making, anyone interested in the subject will find this to be an enormously useful resource.A book about cartographic design should, of course, be well designed - Cartography is a beautiful book that would grace the coffee table of anyone interested in the subject! You might even find your friends browsing through it and developing an interest :)

Author does an Cartography MOOC course through Esri, Awesome Course, Awesome Book!
Mr. Field and his colleagues did a wonderful job on a Esri MOOC Cartography course I took last year. This book is so informative, colorful, and brilliantly written. It is not a boring book, as subjects are explained there are plenty of beautiful pictures, images, and more to look at. This book is a keeper! I am not finished reading it yet, but no complaints. Every cartographer should have this book in their library.

Love Kenneth Fields as a teacher, love his book more
Not a coffee table book, but a bedside read, afternoon browse, and excellent reference. All written with clarity for anyone who loves maps of any generation.

Cartographic Cornucopia
Hands down, the best Esri book I've ever purchased. It's packed with tons of cartographic techniques, advice, and examples. Definitely doesn't lack for content.

Good Content. Poor Print Quality.
The content is top notch but the print quality is poor (blurry), diminishing reader experience. If I could rate the content separate from the print quality, I would give 5 stars for content and 1 star for printing.

A tiempo y en buen estado
Es un libro que quería por todas las técnicas que tiene de ejemplo, es muy útil y además muy ilustrativo, tiene bastantes mapas como esperaba. Cumple su función y vale la pena la compra.

A map geeks delight!
A superb visual and contextual introduction to cartography and map based visualisations.A delight for all map geeks and data geeks alike. Field is knowledgeable and clear in his writing and this makes it a great book for anyone returning to an interest in all things cartographic.

Simply a wonderful cartography book!
Great book by a wonderful cartographer! Reads like a reference book rather than a textbook. Well written and great maps throughout!

Wonderful dictionary, not a textbook
This book is structered like a dictionary of cartography from A - Abstraction to Z - Zeitgeist, but a colour code adds also some thematic orientation to the content. The topics are presented as double pages with information text on the left and really really high quality map examples on the rigth page. This makes the book very useful for people who are already into cartography and want to look up a certain keyword. However, I would not recommend this book as a textbook for students in the beginning of their study. That'd be like trying to learn a foreign language just from reading the dictionary.

An incredible, unprecedented compendium about maps and mapmaking.
I absolutely love this book. With its gorgeous stylish design, so many essential aspects of cartography are covered that it is an essential addition to the collection of anyone interested in maps. And again through that beautiful eye for design, and excellent writing, it does not feel dense at all - amazing considering the sheer amount of content inside its pages. I highly recommend it for not just the cartographer or maphead, but also for the layman with any interest in the topic. I've had guests of all stripes at my house thumb through the book with great interest, clearly attracted to its beautiful design and insights into the philosophy of geography and design.
