It does prevent pressure on the coccyx. I purchased this due to coccyx pain following a long haul flight to Australia. I have used it one on a 4 hour road trip. It was very comfortable and it will have it's full test on my next flight to Australia. I cannot comment further as it has only been used once and has not yet been washed.
