Amended Review after 4 Years of Use - Still Going Strong
We have had this for four years now. It gets a lot of use. Stays outside all summer, and is exposed to the elements. We had some concerns at first because some rust started appearing on a few spots. This actually never developed into anything, and the unit works and looks great. Our neighbor also bought one, and they are equally pleased. Changing from 4 star to 5 star review. This is the real deal. We were looking for a legitimate water basketball net for our pool, and this was a bulls eye. It is built like a regular outdoor net. It has heavy materials. Very sturdy. It is not a flimsy plastic toy that will break in a season. We have a Lifetime net in our driveway that has lasted over 20 years. That one gets used a lot, and it is still going strong. This is why we bought this product. We expect to use this water basketball net for years to come. It is taller than other nets, so be aware of that. For smaller kids, this might be an issue. It is hard to dunk on because of its height. Because it is well built and heavy, it can be a bit difficult to move. Once you find a spot for it, that will probably be where it will be for the season. If you are looking for a sturdy product that seems like it will last a long time, this is it. If you are looking for a pool toy that the kids can move around easily, this is not for you. An added bonus is that it can also be used away from the pool if you have small kids. It is a perfect system for the small beginner basketball player.

Excellent swimming pool hoop
If you want a sturdy, high quality backboard basketball hoop for the swimming pool - look no further, this is it. The elevation of the neck on the backboard allows you to place this at roughly 4 or 5 feet above the water and higher from there. The back fills with either sand or water, we put water in ours. The only thing that you'll replace in a couple seasons will be the net, otherwise - this hoop will get hours of entertainment every summer in the pool.

Best purchase for our pool.
We have been 100% happy with this purchase.Assembly was not bad at all. I did take other recommendations and sprayed every metal piece with Rustolum to prevent rust. I will say, just be careful not to over spray the screws as I did. I had to sand it back down so they would fit. After I finished assembling the goal, I sprayed it down again. So far we have seen no rust as others have complained about. This is a heavy duty goal with a full size rim. Kids(10-12 year olds) run off the side of the pool to dunk on it. It’s too tall for them to dunk on it inside the pool, but perfect for a good game of basketball. Even for adults. It has held up extremely well our first summer. I HIGHLY recommend this basketball goal!

Excellent Product
We bought this system 7/31/2016 and it has FINALLY succumbed to rust at the base. We will be purchasing a replacement of this same brand for next year. We have a salt pool, and live in the Southeast. While I wish, it had lasted 10 years, 6 wasn’t so bad, even the original net lasted the entire 6 years. Paid $130., so about $40.00 a year, not bad. Stayed out 24/7 and never pretreated it. The next one, we’ll probably pretreat and see if that extends it’s life. I must add, we have a garage metal sink, a chest freezer and a fridge, and all of them have some degree of rust, and the insulated garage doors are always closed; our appliance rep, suggested using car wax, to inhibit rust. Overall, very satisfied.

Overall great product
After reading reviews, I picked up a couple cans of clear rustoleum and thoroughly coated all metal parts prior to assembly. The only problem I encountered was one bolt was smooth, not threaded as needed, so a pause and quick trip to the hardware store was required (would have given five stars otherwise). Assembly is not a one person job, but instructions were adequate and with two people it went fairly quickly. Seems to be sturdy and no rust so far. Would recommend for anyone looking for a moveable pool basketball goal.

Poolside Fun
This is a wonderful, very functional product. We had been looking for poolside basketball that used a full size rim and this fit the bill. It is extremely easy to put together - our 14 year old did it himself, needing help only when it was time to put the backboard on the stand, and it was up and ready in about a half an hour using the included directions. He then filled it with water and he and his sister played there first game of many. The height is adjustable, a really great feature. It functions well at any height and can be adjusted to the size of those playing. It has sat poolside for several months now and gotten plenty of water from pool splashes and sprinkler over spray and it still looks in great shape. I plan to bring this stand in during winter just to prolong the life, but I probably do not have to as it appears to be weathering the harsh pool chemicals and our very hard water quite well. Not to mention that the hot sun has not caused any problems with any of the finishes. The item is easy to move around as the wheels function very well.

This is THE hoop for your teenagers
We have had the cheapy hoops for our pool for years but my kids were small so it didn't matter. I now have high schoolers and this is THE hoop to get for rough teen boys. First, it can be raised so high that NO ONE can dunk (even adults) so they have to actually be able to shoot. Second, the rim is full size so while I wouldn't recommend using a real basketball, it does make the outside game relevant which is usually non-existent in pool basketball because everyone goal-tends (you can't goal tend on this hoop when it is up to its highest level). Third, the backboard is high-quality plastic and clear -- it looks the type of hoop you would have in your driveway so it seems more serious than the crappy hoops you can get at the box stores. Finally, the base is SUPER sturdy. When the hoop is on its lowest setting, teens can dunk but no worries, this base is so sturdy they won't be able to pull the hoop into the pool (which is what happens with other hoops). You will need a socket set to set up, and setup was not easy. But that is a minor issue compared to how durable this hoop is.

kids are loving the basketball system. Great quality! Not hard to build but definitely a few hands required when you get to the back board/hoop installation step! Wish we bought it earlier as it has the kids busy every day playing different games and keeping cool in the pool :)

My kids love this net
My kids love this net! It's quite large but perfect, especially for older kids! Nice and sturdy. We did spray the metal pieces with clear rustoleum before we put it together just to make sure no rusting occurs. Worth every penny, hours of fun!

Good product with basic rust preventative measures, beware of large price fluctuations.
I bought this product with low expectations, in light of all of the negative reviews surrounding rust problems. I live in Canada and rusting is a fact of life here. The roads are salted in the winter and folks like me, who keep their non-aluminum vehicles for 10+ years, end up driving rust buckets after 5 without yearly rustproofing. So with that in mind, I used a rustproofing agent generously during assembly, as well as several times during the season on all exposed metal bits and where rust was starting to form.I should add, I have a salt water pool and the net was at its side for an entire season (May - October), out in the elements.I waited to the end of the season to write this review, so that I could asses how well it would hold up after a year of abuse. The photos provided were all taken at the end of the season.Assembly: It went fairly smoothly. My only complaint would be the lack of a spacer to prevent crushing the upper support tube, where the backboard attaches to it. Without this spacer, you can’t tighten the assembly sufficiently to positively secure it in place. A few shots and it loosens up. I ended up manufacturing my own from a piece of aluminum tubing, as seen in the attached photos. I think this type of spacer should be included in the kit.Durability: Surprisingly good for backboard and net. It has seen a lot of use this season, probably in the range of 10k+ shots with COVID lockdowns and working from home etc. It’s held up to quite a few very powerful backboard shots, where I thought it might shatter. The base is surprisingly effective at holding it down, no issues with it moving from shots or wind.Rust: Definitely an issue, as seen in the photos, but not a deal breaker with preventative measures. It is not to the point of compromising structural integrity after1 season, as others have claimed. I think with proper maintenance it should last at least 5 seasons. Proper maintenance includes winter storage in cold climates; for instance I take all major components apart, apply a rustproofing agent and store it in the pool shed protected from the elements. In warm climates, it should be regularly inspected and rustproofed.Value: beware of price fluctuations. I paid 599 and at the time of this review it is listed for 399 and you can have it for 349 with a discount coupon. For the current price I think it’s a steal, for what I paid, an OK value.Would I buy it again: Yes, knowing that I can expect 5 years of service with proper maintenance. I would probably time my purchase differently to get a better deal off season.4 Stars overall.

Good sized backboard
High quality. Good sized backboard. Got through the first summer of play, including dunks from the side of the pool, looking like new.
