As usual Orchard toys are excellent for pre school children as well as children who have already started school. Good quality and also good price.

Big and bold early intro to numbers
We’ve got quite a collection of Orchard Toys board and card games in our house now, from gifts and from reviewing but also from buying them ourselves because they’re reliable and normally good for a lot of repeat playing. They’re one of the few things our kids will sit down and play together without squabbling, even though our eldest may feel like they’re a bit above it and our youngest may still struggle a bit with some of the ideas. This game is on the more junior side, for sure, being based around basic counting and number sequences and without any of the twists or challenges of some of the other games in the range. Younger players will benefit more from the pictures before they recognise the number shapes, but other than that there isn’t much progression involved. As always the manufacturing quality is reliable as well. These cards are surprisingly large- needlessly so I might suggest, making it difficult to play on a small table and more suitable to playing on a floor- which a cynic might say has been done to disguise the fact there’s not very much to this game… but on the flipside of that, I suppose it’s easier for particularly young hands. This won’t be our kids’ favourite game, for sure- at a push if they were asked to pick their favourite Orchard Toys game it would probably be Greedy Gorilla- but if you’re looking to sneak a bit more ‘maths homework’ into the play diet of your 3- or 4-year-old then this is a fun way to do it.
