Wagner plate caster has a pneumatic wheel, a flat base with holes for bolting or welding to an object, and a swivel design to allow movement with a 360-degree change in direction. A total-lock brake simultaneously prevents rolling and restricts swivel movement when the foot-operated lever is depressed. The plate caster's pneumatic wheel consists of a soft rubber tread on a three-piece steel hub with zinc plating, and it is fully inflated with air at 50 pounds per square inch (psi). The wheel provides quiet operation, protects floors, and has a cushioned ride, making it suitable for bearing delicate loads. The double row swivel construction with extra-large raceways provides durability. Plate casters are wheeled mechanisms used to support and maneuver objects such as carts, racks, and dollies. Plate casters are named for their mounting system: they have a flat plate, usually with four bolt holes, that forms the top of the caster and attaches to the object. Plate casters vary in their maneuverability. Some are rigid and only roll at a fixed angle, while other casters swivel to allow a 360-degree change in direction. Plate casters may have brakes, and swivel casters may have locks to set them to a fixed angle. Casters may have single or twin (dual) wheels made from a variety of materials. Generally, wheels with hard tread material have a higher load capacity and roll easier than soft tread wheels, which provide quieter operation and cushioning. Load capacity for plate casters is also affected by tread width and wheel diameter. Plate casters are used on furniture, carts, shelving, appliances, scrap bins, production dollies, and utility trucks for material handling applications in a variety of industries. E.R. Wagner manufactures casters, wheels, hinges, stampings, and tubular products. The company, founded in 1900, is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI.

Well made and functional...
E.R. Wagner Pneumatic Plate Caster, Swivel with Total-Lock BrakeMy shop planer is on a wheeled stand which is rolled into the shop when it's needed. Between the shop and where it's stored is our rec-room (which has wall-to-wall carpet). The 4" x 1.25" hard rubber casters on that stand rolled poorly on the carpet, bunched up throw rugs, and the stand was difficult to transition over our 3/4" high oak thresholds.See Customer Images.I installed four Wagner swivel casters on that stand - two of each plate size. Caster features:- rolls easily over concrete, wall-to-wall carpet, or even throw rugs- The plastic/metal locking mechanism is quite clever. Press down on the end lever with your foot or hand and the swivel becomes immovable, plus a metal plate is pushed down onto the tire to restrict it from rolling. On a flat surface, it works very well. Outside on a hill with a heavy load, you might need to use a wheel chock. Release the lock with the upper lever.- The light gray tires are relatively soft (for tires), and they won't slip on smooth dry surfaces. They grab so well, they actually squeak on hard floors if the wheel is moved other than in a straight line.- Overall product quality is excellent. The top plate is 1/4" thick steel with a double row of ball bearings; wheel struts are 1/8" thick; the wheel has a steel hub with double ball bearings, a hardened axle, and a grease lug to lubricate the wheel bearings from the inside out for high usage applications.- Before mounting, pressurize each tire no more than 50 PSI. I used 40 PSI and it seems fine. These tires are so small, it goes from zero to full pressure in about ½ second, so be careful not to exceed 50 PSI. If you don't have an air compressor, go to a gas station, or maybe a friend owns one. Once the casters are mounted, you'll need access to an air compressor and tire gage if a tire ever loses air.- On the casters with a 3-3/4" by 2-3/4" plate, the four holes in the top plate are designed for 5/16" bolts. E.g., to use 3/8" bolts, you would need to drill them out to that size. On the casters with a 4-1/2" by 4" plate, the four holes are designed for 3/8" bolts.- With four swivel casters, that planer stand can be pushed/pulled straight, sideways, around in a circle, or any other direction, with ease.- With extra tools stored on my planer stand, it easily exceeds 200 pounds, yet it still rolls easily. Since each caster supports up to 200 pounds, four casters handle heavy loads.- E.R. Wagners's web site says this product is made in the U.S.A.Highly recommended.

Good casters but they seem to lose air quickly
The only issue I have is that the tires seem to lose air pressure relatively quickly. Other than that, they are nice casters. I was amused by the writing on the sides of the tires that says "Not for Highway Use." For me, this won't be a problem, but if you are purchasing for Highway Use, this probably isn't for you.

Good tire but do lose air when air valve is disturbed or slowly over time
Had a challenge getting the tires to maintain air pressure; initially I thought there was a problem with them. Every time I measured the air pressure it would be down about 10 psi. I then figured out that the act of pulling the air valve out to measure was releasing air pressure because when I didn't touch it then it would be ok. (and I put some water with soup around the stem and it showed bubbles when I pulled the air valve out). So, I now fill them up and leave them alone, I put more air in them when they look to be low.

Lock didn't actually lock the tire on 1 of 2 out of the box, but fixed easily.
I just got two of these and mounted them (btw they do NOT come with mounting bolts so you will have to go get your own). One of them worked great out of the box and locked well (both the swivel and the tire moving), the other did not even slow the tire down, let alone lock it. I found that the tire that would not lock at all was actually a little low (just barely) pressure-wise and once that was remedied does indeed work. If you are having a hard time getting the tire-rolling part - check the pressure, apparently they aren't necessarily at the proper pressure from the company. Both still don't do a fantastic job from blocking a heavy object from rolling but both work well locking the swivel and at least slow a heavy object. I now angle them opposite each other before leaving and they work great. I have had these on all sorts of terrain (mud, grass, rocks, cement) and are holding up well and working well. A little disappointing that it did not come to me sufficiently quality checked to make sure it worked right away as not everybody has easy access to air pumps, but once that is sorted out, the tires work well.

Not really 6x2
These are good quality but they do leak and need to be filled every 8-12 weeks. I am tired of that and ordered a replacement 6x2 wheel. These may have 6x2 molded into the sidewall but the ruler doesn't lie and mine are 5.75 x2...thus a standard 6x2 replacement will not fit. Im not happy.
