New PLS3 3-point Red Beam Laser Level PLS-60523N by Pacific Laser Systems

Have used the PLS on residential framing and light commercial metal stud partitions. It is small, accurate and fast for most plumb operations. Also use it for quick level checks. I own 3 Stabilas. MD smart level, 2 Wedge and 2 Robotools lasers and other stick levels because I'm compulsive about accuracy. Now, I hardly use my stick levels. I read most of the reviews for similar products and chose the PLS because they took the time to answer some concerns other reviewers had. Also, a guy I worked with recommended it over the brand I previously considered. The unit comes with two brackets and a nice case. The case is made to hold one mounting bracket but not both. I stuff the "raising" bracket under the cover. The case could be better designed.

Unbelievably valuable tool on any construction job. Accurate and easy to use. Stays surprisingly level even with hard use, my partner knocked it off the top of a 6 foot ladder a couple of times but it always came out of it true level time and time again. My only complaint was that my first one would turn on in the case, it switches on and off very easily, and you end up with dead batteries. I used to routinely take out one battery at the end of every day and stick it to the magnet in the case to make sure it would last longer. I'm now on my second unit as it is such a useful tool that someone stole my first one after years of use. I'm testing my newer model now by leaving the battery in to see if it was just a problem with the first unit I owned.

Invaluable for transferring lines and points from A to B, mostly from floor to ceiling- to 100 feet up or more. Next time, I may buy the bigger version, but I'll definitely be buying a PLS brand laser. This is a somewhat sensitive "instrument"- you cannot bang these around. I actually had a problem with my first one, (I no longer loan my PLS3 out) and Amazon's Customer Service Dept took fast care of me (THANKS AMAZON!), and got me a new one PDQ. I've had it for several years now, and love it.

I bought this laser to replace an older PLS3 green laser(that was run over by a lift). It works great, but I wish PLS still made the green laser in this style.

What an upgrade from my last laser. The laser is bright and clear and the self leveling works great. I like the new style where the battery cover is under the rubber cover so it elminates the issue of lost covers. My old laser was getting difficult to see on lighter background or if there was a lot of light in the work area. The new PLS solved both of those problems for me.

Will be buying more of these for my crew. They are exceptional! They self level quickly and super acurate. I've had many laser levels in my framing business and by far this has been the best. They fit easily in your nail bags.

The PLS3 is a great tool, but not very rugged. It shoots a bright red light in broad daylight that you can easily see from at least 50 feet away. I used it to level my 30x20 rectangular foundation and it was accurate to at least 1/4 inch at 30 feet. As long as you handle it with care, it is very accurate and self-levelling. Unfortunately, we dropped it a few times from a height of 2 feet or so to the ground. I would have expected the PLS3 to be more rugged than this since it is used at a construction site - but after it is dropped, it goes way off course by at least 2 feet per 30 feet. The self-levelling feature goes haywire too, and the color of the light won't change even if you tilt it 45 degrees. Then, when you shake it a little, the accuracy changes again, sometimes to 1 feet per 30 feet, sometimes more of less. I would feel more comfortable if it will at least flag an error when it is off-level, rather than making me think that it continues to work.
