I am a 5'9", 180lb American male. I have played with the cushion a bunch and I cannot adjust it to attain the correct playing position. If adjusted for proper height, no other parameters are acceptable. The cushion angle intended to achieve a good view of the neck is way, way off, so I cannot sit the guitar flat on the cushion. This makes it unstable. It also slides laterally on my thigh - it grabs my pants leg but then my pant leg rotates with the cushion movement. This instability is not only distracting but it's impossible to keep the guitar in the proper playing position without frequent readjustment.I can only give 2 stars for good concept and build quality. This product does not work for me, even considering my rather common anatomy. It may work for you - good luck. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Guitar cushion is mostly good for me. *by D***O on April 16, 2014* I bought this because learning to play classical guitar in the classical position has been a pain under the right shoulder blade. Initially I thought that it was just me because I was 70 years old; but my instructor (also my son) and Google told me that it was a relatively common problem. Using this cushion instead of the foot rest eliminated the pain. However, a new problem arose. When you sit on a chair and your legs slope downhill from your hips, the cushion will slip downhill. None of my pants are rough enough to prevent this and my wife doesn't want me to practice in the nude. It helps if you can sit up straight and not look at the fret board or tie the cushion to your belt (cushions like this are available from Amazon).The best solution is to get a shorter chair so that your upper legs sloe downhill from your knees to your hip. It doesn't take much. There is a "sweet" spot between body height and chair height that has stability, no pain and no aggravation. I found it and I can better focus on making my fingers do what I tell them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not just for classical guitarists. Wonderful for acoustic too! *by T***D on August 20, 2010* I'm 21, and have been playing acoustic guitar for 8 years now. While practicing, the one thing that frustrated me time and time again is experiencing pain. After 5 minutes or so of practicing, I would feel pain in my palms, back, forearms, and shoulders. Using a stool would alleviate the pain a little but it did not take long for the problem to worsen again. My lower back would tighten and I even experienced cramping. At 6'3" tall, it is hard to find a comfortable position to play guitar. It was just awful and discouraged me a lot.I read about this cushion prop in a book called "The Art of Practicing" by Madeline Bruser. In one chapter she discusses posture techniques for various instruments and mentions this cushion device. I decided to order it. When I propped it on my lap, OMG!!! The guitar felt weightless! I didn't have grip it and crouch over it! There was no pain. It was elevated to the right place on my body where my hands didn't feel strained. It was liberating.Every guitarist should own this. It takes all the discomfort away from playing guitar.
