Fast, fairly rugged, and reliable. It came formatted and also comes with the interface cable in the box. I'm very pleased! These drives are a nice piece of mind and an insurance policy knowing your system is backed up just in case it crashes. Some data cannot be replaced so it's good to have a copy!

It will mount on your desktop, but you cannot copy files to it initially. That's because it is formatted for win/PC. All you need to do is open the Disk Utility tool (Under the "Go" menu at the top of the screen). Then select the Seagate Portable drive on the left side of the window. Then click on "Erase Drive". From the drop down menu choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled). After you do that, you will be able to drag and drop your files on it or use it as a time machine backup, etc.

I have purchased this type over the years and love them as I use it for storage. Super easy to use, plug it in and drag and drop the files. I found that if I do them 1 at a time it is easier and faster. Perhaps you know a better way. I also found that they last about 2 years and in my opinion

Just what I needed to back up my personal computer. Very easy to use.

This is a great product. A down side is you have to check if it’s compatible with your computer and even then change some settings to work for your type of computer. Other than that the it’s great to prevent data loss and installing afterwards is easy.

Bought this used and it appears to have come with data on it. I was able to finally figured out why it wasn’t working and reformatted. After wiping it, it worked as state.
