Clairol Root Touch-Up Permanent Hair Dye, 8.5A Medium Champagne Blonde

I have always gone to the hairdressers to get my colour done, but with Lockdown I needed to colour my hair. I saw this and thought I would give it a try. It is brilliant, so simple to use, it comes with everything you need, a little bowl, a special brush and the products takes seconds to mix up, I applied it to my root area by sectioning off my hair and ten minutes later washed it off and I had perfect hair. Thank you Clairol, you have saved me a lot of money and I will now do this every month and safe myself a fortune. The colour is lovely too, matches my existing colour perfectly. I chose champagne blonde.

I bought this (8.5 champagne blonde) for use in lockdown after a bit of a lightening disaster with another brand, I ended up with ‘hot roots’ in that my hair wasn't bad overall colour but the roots came out a brassy/ginger golden colour.After looking online for how to fix it, I found that by getting a slightly darker shade and going over the brassy bits, it should tone them down.This worked perfectly. My hair is naturally a grey mouse light brown, but lightened to level 8/9 light blonde, this perfectly blended my roots in, no demarcation.I did use the snazzy little brush that it comes with to drag some of it down the length of my hair and tried to make the line a little uneven, to avoid a stripe, but to be honest, I didn’t need to, as it just seems to blend.I have never used this brand in my hair, so it seems to work with any level 8/9.I will now be using this regularly, it’s so fast, has everything you need in the packet and there’s zero waste.If you do have long or thick hair, one packet won’t be enough, I have fine, bobbed hair and there was the perfect amount.Also, I left on for 20 minutes, as my hair does tend to need longer to process.Can’t fault it and would recommend. I bought this to lighten up my roots a little ( I bought "ash blond" shade). I have applied it to the roots only. My natural hair is pretty dark. I have kept it for 10 minutes and the result is in the photo. It went, like 1 shade up, very subtle, could have kept it longer. Afterwards I have used strong violet mask to cool it down because it brought out orange tint in my natural hair when lightening it. All in all good value for money, does nothing new, just like any regular big box of hair dye, but a budget small version for the roots only. Will buy again.

Great product, I normally pay around £100 in a salon to do the same as I managed for £6.99! Very easy to use, great instructions and good colour.

Bought this to try and cover my roots at home while waiting for the hairdressing salon to re-open. Was really surprised at how easy it was to mix and use, and very pleased with the overall results. It is quite an orange blonde rather than a creamy blonde but it went well with my existing colour and looks like I have different coloured highlights! Would therefore recommend doing a patch test first.

I’ve dyed medium blonde hair and greys coming thru and this didn’t cover my grey hair at all, left on longer too

Left my hair soft and covered grey roots very well. Blended well with previous colour.
