Sony RX100 VI 20.1 MP Premium Compact Digital Camera w/ 1-inch sensor, 24-200mm ZEISS zoom lens and pop-up OLED EVF

Let me start by saying that I purchased this camera mainly to capture photos of our 10 month old baby son. As we all know infants move unpriedictevly and fast focusing camera is a must. Here is why this camera delivers on that task. 1. It’s fast. I mean lightning fast not only in acquiring focus but also during handling like switching between menu, playback and picture taking modes. I never wait for things to happen, I press and it happens. 2. Burst mode is incredibly fast. It’s critical to have fast frame burst mode in order to capture that baby’s smily face. 24 frames with continuous focus is crazy fast! 3. Touch screen! Finally Sony! Even though it only works during live view mode to pin point autofocus and during playback mode to magnify picture (no pinch to zoom in or out unfortunately) I don’t think I’m missing out here. I don’t use touch screen in menus anyway. I works good, I don’t feel any lags. 4. It’s very customizable in terms of assigning shortcut buttons. Sony’s menu is not very intuitive especially coming from Canon world but I think once you setup my menu items and reassign buttons the way you like you will be OK. Particularly I like one feature. It’s burst photos images grouping. If I take burst photo with let say 50 photos I don’t have to scroll trough them all to get to the next picture, camera groups those 50 photos in 1 group and you can exit it and go to next picture. Another neat feature is that you can protect picture you like and delete the rest of pictures with press of a button, so you have to delete 49 other pictures manually if you like just 1 of them. I don’t know why other cameras don’t have that, it makes my life much easier. 5. Great dynamic range right out camera’s JPEGs. We all probably had a situation when you want to take a photo from inside restaurant with some beautiful view outside and people by your table but than you have dilemma. When background is properly bright people by a table are dark, if you want people on your pic to look bright background becomes overexposed or very bright. That’s when this cameras outperforms any other cameras I have used. It has feature called DRO it makes dark areas brighter while keeping whole scene properly exposed. It’s not HDR function when camera takes 3 photos and stacks them, it only takes 1 photo. By the way it has HDR mode too and works well too but as we all know it’s only good for still scene as photo can come out blurry if anybody moved during capturing these 3 photos. 6. You can take 4K video and grab photo from it. I love this function, I just shoot high resolution 4K video of our constantly moving baby boy and then just grab 17 megapixel frame from it if I like it. Great feature! 7. You can instantly transfer photos to your smartphone via WiFi no cables needed even when you are outside away from Wifi. It’s not as simple setup as Canons system but it’s easy enough. And you can start sharing those photo minute after you took them! Overall I’m very happy with my purchase. Lack of touch screen held me back from buying rx100 cameras for years! Not anymore! Yes this camera is expensive but it’s good investment that will last. I don’t think I will need to but any other camera for many more years. It does everything I need it to do superbly!

I was looking for a high performance travel camera to take on trips and backpacking. I decided on the Sony RX100M6 after reading several reviews. The camera takes very sharp/clear pictures. The colors it records are authentic. I shoot in RAW format and edit in Lightroom. The pictures are fantastic. I have experimented with JPEG and those images are very nice as well. I am extremely happy with this camera. Some on-line reviews complain about the reduction in f-stop (lower end being f2.8-4.5) due to the extended zoom range. I have not found this to be an issue and prefer the extended zoom (24-200mm). The camera is well built - it has a very solid feel. The Sony menu system is a little confusing, but the on-line manual describes each of the settings in detail. You can customize your camera to place critical menu items in the My Menu section so that you can find your most crucial settings quickly - for example: Format. The camera is small and it could slip out of you hand easily. I therefore added the AG-R2 grip which makes it easier to handle. I also added a OP/TECH USA Cam Strap - QD (a wrist strap). A second battery is a must. To protect the screen, I selected a Vello Screen Protector Ultra. The Lowepro Portland 20 bag fits the camera with its strap and a spare battery nicely. It's a great bag for backpacking and can attach to your belt. If you need a small bag to fit the camera, strap, spare battery, charger, cables, and lens cloth - then the Lowepro Adventura SH100R II is a nice choice. The camera has WiFi and you can download pictures to your smart phone using the Sony Imaging Edge Mobile application. I found that establishing the WiFi connections between the camera and phone to be fairly straightforward using the NFC feature. The other connection methods work, but are more cumbersome. You can download the full size image or a reduced image size of 2M for use with social media (for example). This is a great camera!

I didn't like paying nearly $1200. but have to admit I am totally impressed with this camera in one day of use so far. Test shots seem really sharp across the field at all focal lengths (yes even 200mm). In-camera JPEGs look pretty good, RAW of course a little better after processing. The video looks noticeably better than the RX100 M3 I also own. One feature I really like is being able to snap a photo while shooting a video (17mp image vs. 20mp native photo but still a good quality file albeit in JPEG-only format). I may miss the faster lens of the earlier M3 but the reach of the 200mm here is such a useful improvement in this tiny package I'll live with the higher ISOs or slower shutter speeds I think. My only complaint might be the delicate nature of the shutter/lens cover device which began to "stick" on my earlier camera after a few months (I learned to shake the camera to get it to open fully). I'm adding an after-market filter adapter to try to protect the front of the lens better, and added an after-market grip I like too. Sony could do better with those areas but the basic box here is a pretty amazing little device I'm excited to do more shooting with to see what it can do.

For outdoor use, this camera its fine. I purchased it because I wanted an alternative to my Sony A7RII and Sony DSCRX10 (both which I love) so that I could capture images indoors without attracting attention. Unfortunately, it's difficult-to-impossible to get a bright enough exposure in an indoor setting without setting the shutter speeds impracticably low (without a flash, a tripod or stationary surface is required. Not to mention, your subject would need to hold very still). Losing the ability to use this camera indoors in ambient light makes it pretty much useless for me. For prospective buyers I'd recommend keeping that in mind. Outdoor use: YES. Indoor handheld use without flash: NO. And if that situation is fine for your workflow, then I think this camera would be a good buy. But if indoor use is important to you, then I would advise against this one. Perhaps choose an alternative that has a more limited zoom range and wider aperture.

After struggling on vacations with a DSLR and two or three big lenses, this tiny camera was a pleasure to use. I would usually have it in my pocket or carry it in one hand (wrist strap) without a problem - even at the end of long days of hiking/walking around. Pros: super light weight and small profile, impressive all around performance across a wide range of zoom, extremely fast continuous shooting with autofocus, video looks amazing, both view finder and moveable rear display options, relatively simple to use right out of the box even for someone who has never used a Sony camera before. Cons: Low light performance and image sharpness were not quite as good as with my DSLR (not surprisingly), and hefty price tag. And while great to have 200 mm zoom, it loses a little artistic value when giving up F1.8 at the 24 mm end of the lens. I posted some photos of a recent trip over a range of conditions and camera demands. These were RAW files processed in LR. Overall, I was very impressed and rarely missed having my big camera and heavy lenses. Will definitely continue to use this as a stellar and versatile travel camera.

Awesome camera! It worth every dollar its costs. Yeah, it is not cheap... but having that beast in your pocket it a real game changer (if you like to take pictures and you really focused on the quality). I saw in other reviews some people say that iPhone X can do all the same... Although yes it can DO things, but HOW is not comparable at all. Those two devices from different universes. Pictures made with a cell phone perhaps good enough for sharing on social media, but pictures made with this camera make your eyes happy! :) Very low digital noice, even in the low light. Great Zoom! Big concern about unavailability of software support at this moment (7/25/18) - no any utilities to convert ARW to DNG, but this is just a matter of time. Hopefully Adobe will do a great job and add RAW files support for this camera pretty soon. So I'll keep 5 stars for the device itself! :) UPDATE 8/22/2018: Hooray! Adobe just released update for Lightroom. Now it supports RAW format from this camera!

The first time I tried to shoot a video of some competition the camera shut down after about 25 minutes due to overheating. I filed a complaint with Sony and they gave me a lame excuse about the camera not being designed for shooting extended video. This for a camera that is $1200! I have had several Nikon compact cameras that shoot hi-res video that were half the price that never had an overheating problem. This camera is defective.

I generally have used my full-frame Sony a7 series for most of my photography. I walk daily for health reasons and wanted something lighter for my walk around a local lake. The rx100 vi has a Zeiss 24-200 lens which is great for taking shots of the local wildlife, particularly birds. The detail out of this pocket-sized camera is amazing and it has become a daily companion, The camera has eye auto-focus for people, but I've had some luck with animals as well. Its successor, the rx100 vii has animal eye-autofocus in addition. I got a great deal on the vi as I purchased it during an Amazo warehouse sale at roughly 40% off. Thanks, Amazon.

Seul petit problème en 4K, le steady Shot standard n'est pas à la hauteur, Mais avec un trépied l'image est de très bonne qualité. Mais avec le rx100 m7 le steady shot serait beaucoup mieux en 4K.
