Great product, lighter than expected.
It's well made and very easy to assemble after watching a Youtube video. After doing research, yes, I'm one of those sad individuals that researches things to death before buying, I opted for this model, especially as I have other Dewalt power tools and own a 5Ah battery. What surprised me most was how light the product was compared to its size. When I opened the box, I was disappointed at first not to have a shoulder strap to take the weight. I considered buying one.My old Bosch was a good machine and the casing broke in two when I dropped it to the floor. This is lighter and seems to have the same or more power, despite being a battery strimmer. After doing the back garden, I was surprised that I didn't need the shoulder strap and I didn't feel tired after using it.There are no negatives to mention, and I have ordered an extra battery in case I need it for my other tools or the first cut of the year needs it. It was more expensive that I was initially willing to pay, but in hindsight, I'm glad I paid the extra.I would thoroughly recommend it and would purchase the same if I every needed another. Let's hope that it will be a while yet!

Surprisingly good
Good tool surprising how much easier it is to strim without the cable. Easy on the batteries, and string length adjustment very easy you just tap the head on tge grass. Good buy

Top brand, time will tell.
I chose this line trimmer because my old Qualcast battery trimmer only had 20 minutes use time before needing a 24 hour charge. As I now have a considerably larger garden, I needed to buy something with a bit more guts and a longer use-time between charges. As I have many other DeWalt products, I already have a charger and 2 x 4A/h batteries which made buying into this line trimmer and lot better option than going with a cheaper brand with battery and charger. The only negative I have was that DeWalt supply an Allen key for fitting the handle, but don't supply the tool for fitting the line guard! As it turns out, the screws for the line guard are a weird size of whatever is needed and I didn't have the bit (and I have hundreds of various bits), but they have a slot in them too, so I used a slotted screwdriver, but even that was a challenge as my larger screwdrivers didn't fit in the slot, and smaller screwdrivers didn't reach across the slot. Come on DeWalt, we've paid good money for this, have the decency to supply both tools needed to put the thing together!Time will tell in regards to longevity, but it comes with a three year guarantee, so if it lasts that long I'll be happy. I've not had any DeWalt tool go faulty on me yet, so I have no reason to believe this will be any different.I had to wait 6 weeks for delivery and eventually it came from Spain, but that wasn't an issue as I got it for €160. Screwfix Ireland its €220!It is a two speed unit with variable trigger which works well. Even with a 4A/h battery it doesn't feel heavy as it's well balanced as long as you fit the handle the right way round. Proper DeWalt line isn't expensive and is worth it over cheaper line as it lasts longer.Things to remember:Larger batteries only means longer run-time, NOT faster or in any other way better.DeWalt batteries charge very quickly. If you have a couple of batteries, chances are you have unlimited trim time as you are using one while the other one is charging.Use DeWalt batteries. Copycat batteries do work, but fade seriously over time. This is an XR product with slide batteries.Register your product with DeWalt the moment you know the serial number or you forego the 3 year warranty.Buy some good eye protection!

Brilliant
A brilliant strimmer and a must for dewalt fans like me. If you have the batteries it's a must.

Overkill for the average garden but it's brilliant.
Bought this product as I am investing in a tool collection where everything takes the same batteries. It replaced a broken Flymo simplitrim, significantly more powerful but be warned it gets quite heavy after a while.

Perfect for a big garden, perhaps not professional level
For a large country garden it's great. Clears nettles, brambles and long grass/weeds. Some have commented that it was difficult to assemble, seemed perfectly simple to me. As ever, follow the instructions to the letter and don't try to be smart or second guess and it'll go together just fine.As an aside it is very much worth spending time positioning the handle to get it balanced correctly. It makes working with it much easier.Battery life seems just fine, and the line feeds easily and lasts well. I'm not sure it would do the very heavy work, but for me it's great.

Very good except for the head
Well balanced and powerful tool, my only gripe is the bump feed head. I have to push it in manually rather than bump to feed the cord - It clogs very easily which makes even that difficult, requiring a head removal to fix.

As expected
Useful addition to gardening tools, lighter than a petrol strimmer but not hugely so.
