Q: Do they work if you use them inside (to hide them) instead of outside?

Yes, the clips can be used on the inside of your clothing. It took me a few tries to get a satisfactory look...but it can be done.

Q: Will these cause damage to a delicate dress fabric?

I have used the clips on clothing made of cotton, cotton blends, denim, jersey, linen, rayon, and unadorned georgette crepe. The clips worked well without damaging the clothing. I have not used the clips on clothing made of silk, or of any clothing adorned with beads or crystals.
