This vermiculite was mined in Mongolia (source of the purest vermiculite mineral in the world). Then vermiculite flakes were transported to Ukraine (Eastern Europe) where the product underwent exfoliation process. Then vermiculite was packed and transported to United States. Gardenera Vermiculite is a 100% Natural and absolutely pure. Hope that helps!

Gardenera vermiculite meets all requirements and Is approved for the use in organic agriculture according to the International Accredited Certification Bodies Equivalent European Union organic production & processing standard for third countries which is equivalent to the EU Regulations #834/2007 and 889/2008.

Q: I bought the african violet mix. it has some shimmering super thin stuff like fish scales. is there fish in this mixwhy does it smell like dry fish???

The fish scale looking material is most likely flakes of vermiculite. As far as the smell goes, algae has that sort of smell, too as provides oxygen that plants use. And grows in dampness, so that might be what your smelling.
