The lightweight sets are flimsy but usable. Millions of sets!
I bought the lightweight set. I got them for a great price and didn't really think about what I would DO with 500 sets of not so great plasticware. When the box came and I opened it, I gasped. What the heck did I buy? The lightweight set is, indeed, lightweight. It isn't made for foods that need a lot of pressure to pick up.. Each set is wrapped in plastic and is convenient to take with me for lunches, keep in our camper, and I have no idea what else. My husband hates them because the set is so flimsy. He won't use them. The spoon is good for pudding, cottage cheese, oatmeal, and almost anything that you would need a spoon for (except for hot things). The fork is good for very tender meats, salads like macaroni and potato, cake and pie, and other softish foods. The knife isn't of much use. It will cut things like most fruits, bread,.maybe even a sandwich, but don't expect to eat cut steak with it. Ha! This plasticware is a bit smaller than average.. It's shorter than what I normally use (see pic) and obviously lighter. I really should have thought about how much 500 sets were before buying because I haven't a clue what I will do with all of these. Halloween is coming. Maybe the kids won't notice if I slip a few sets into their trick or treat bags. ;) If you have a need for lightweight bulk plasticware, this set is a steal even at a higher price than I paid. I think they were only around $12.00 when I bought mine. Do know that you are getting bendy utensils. These would actually be good in a kid's lunch box - past the age where a plastic knife could be misused. This one won't do much damage so I wouldn't worry much about a kid using these utensils. I am going with 4 stars because these are what they are advertised to be. You can't expect high quality flatware when the listing clearly states that the stuff is lightweight. It's not awful and it is usable.Far better than sporks! And there are so many sets! I don't think I will ever have a need for flimsy plastic spoons, forks, or knives again. If you need more sturdy plastic utensils, go with the more expensive heavier weight stuff. It is worth the cost to not have your fork and knife bend when you are trying to cut into a piece of BBQ meat.

Sturdy—good value
Very sturdy plastic ware. Don’t waste your money on medium weight when this is the better deal.

Buying again but would like to see improvments
I’m visiting this item to procure again. Looking over other review comments, I would say yes, it would be preferable if Amazon would use a natural origin wrapping for the wrapped cutlery kits. And yes, PLA requires a commercial composting facility for timely composting but I feel using a natural origin polylactic acid polymer better than using a petroleum based traditional polymer. In using this product I have been surprised that on occasion I find an extra item of cutlery in the package. I would have thought that the packaging system would have easily detected and avoided such. Also, would be nice if the orientation of items in the wrapping was more consistent, again a packaging system issue.

What a bargain!
What a bargain!! 500 packs for $8! Cutlery isn't top of the shelf plastic wear, but way better quality than my local grocery store brand! These are perfect for lunches and to keep at work. Will buy again!

Going green is easy now.
I purchased this product for my daughter’s wedding reception. Held in a barn, she didn’t want to worry about real cutlery but also didn’t want to permanently contribute to the landfill. These utensils were sturdy, comfortable and didn’t feel flimsy. Would recommend.
