Concentrated Non-Bio, Laundry Detergent Refill, Laundry Washing Liquid, Lavender and Sandalwood, 142 Washes, 5L

The new formula is so foul smelling that I have had to get rid of 5 litres of very expensive, uttterly unusable concentrated liquid. Why do they do this? I have given up their washing up liquid too because of the unbearable stench.

Not sure what's happened as ive been using ecover for the last 6 years, but the last couple of bottles I have bought have left my clothes smelling like a damp dog! I gave my machine a deep clean and still my clothes stank and felt rough. Changed detergent to another brand, and the damp dog smell has gone and clothes are much cleaner smelling and feeling (So definitely not the washing machine) I've looked online to see if there was any change to formula and it looks like I'm not the only one that's had issues with ecover in the last few months. :( such a shame as it was always my go to for sensitive skin. Price has been slowly creeping up like everything else but its definitely not worth it anymore.

I have been using Ecover products for over 10 years. Like one of the other reviewers, I also contacted Ecover about the new 'fragrance' as my children are complaining about the overpowering smell. It is now far too strong. Ecover replied that they were trying to attract new customers and all their products would now have this smell. What about their loyal old customers!! I'm not sure anybody will change their brand because of this new smell and some (like me) will be looking for a new brand. They said I could buy their non-fragranced liquid but it is hard enough to find the standard ecover let alone the zero fragrance one. Anyway, I did like the subtle scent of the old one. On top of the change to the smell it is now the consistency of water which makes you use too much as it slops into the lid and I have to keep pouring it back. Overall, not good changes and I am going to look for a different brand.

I had thought Ecover only used natural ingredients but this is evidently not the case, my wife who is not normally chemically sensitive to fragrances had problems with irritation to her nose and throat after using this product. Unfortunately I am sensitive to chemical fragrance and this caused the same airway irritation along with headache, nausea and sleep issues after air drying the washed clothes in the conservatory. On checking the label the ingredients state Perfume which is a clear indication of artificial fragrance and apparently Ecover state that their fragrances are at least 50% naturally derived which is a direct admission that they use chemical fragrances in their products.

Surprisingly the washing liquid is more fluid, the smell is much less strong and it makes much more foam during washing comparing to the same ECOVER of 1.5 liter that I usually buy in the supermarkets. I got my money back. It really is not an ECOVER product. Go your way and spend £ 1 / liter more it's worth it!

I have used this product for years very happily but the new Lavender and Sandalwood fragrance is truly horrid. I am considering throwing the entire 5l away.

This product doesn't work well like the other range, does not remove easily-come-off stain like Persil for example. Very disappointed 😞

I normally love ecover products. My review rating is more to reflect the fact that i received the new "Lavender & Sandalwood" fragrance instead of the product as shown on here. It came in the 5l plastic bottle and not a box with a tap. The bottle also had a small crack which meant that it leaked... Not a happy customer.
