Q: Can these be used to strip down a brontosaurus turkey bird hot out of the oven without singeing my tyrannosaurus meat hooks?

Fred Flintstone, just use your hands man, these gloves haven't been invented yet for prehistoric man!

Q: Can I take a hot cast iron pan off the stove with these?

I put these on specifically for this test. My husband finished using one of my pans and turned off the heat. I walked over and put my gloved hand directly onto the pan and counted until I could feel the heat to a point that I would have had to drop the pan. I lasted 20 seconds. I thought that was pretty incredible.

Q: Has anyone used these for steel forging?

I have not used them for steel forging. Just as a caution, these gloves breathe, and I have experienced boiling water run right through them; not fun. But if you are blacksmithing, these might work for you.

Q: How are they with open flames?

I wouldn't suggest using these with open fire due to the clothe like material. Grrase/oil is different.
