Bait runner on big reel!!!
Love this bait runner reel. Advertisement forgot to mention this feature usually found on smaller reels. Makes line handling easier, perfect when you need big fish to run with your bait, then hit them with full drag.

Great
The Sougayilang Saltwater Spinning Reel 10000 Series is an excellent choice for anglers seeking durability and performance. The CNC aluminum spool adds strength without sacrificing weight, making it suitable for both saltwater and freshwater environments. Its smooth drag system ensures a reliable and consistent experience while reeling in large fish like carp. The build quality is solid, and the reel feels sturdy even under pressure. However, the reel could benefit from a slightly more ergonomic handle for extended use comfort. Overall, it delivers excellent value for its price, making it a strong contender in its category.

Great reel if used for what it’s made for
First, I’ve become a big fan of Sougayilang fishing products (rods, reels, lures, etc) and this reel is no different. It’s smooth, has strong (and I mean very strong) drag(s) so I have no doubt that it will handle just about anything I will hook surf fishing the Texas coast. To address some of the comments in the review and this are just my humble opinions and not meant to insult anyone at all. Yes, it’s a massive reel so no, it’s not an “inshore” reel. You’d have one arm looking like Popeye or your arm would drop off. I have 8000-10,000 series reels that are not much smaller than this one. This is a “baitrunner” reel so because of that feature it’s going to be larger than the standard spinning reels we’re used to.I matched this reel up with a 12’ surf rod and that is what I believe is its sweet spot, for the fishing I do. From my understanding, baitrunner reels were made for carp fishing. I fish the surf actively with my smaller rods/reels while this one is letting the bait soak way out there. So I’m really only casting it less than a dozen times, if that. I don’t believe this would be a good offshore reel, like others have mentioned. For a reel in this class range I would instead use my big baitcasters to muscle up the beasts, much more compact and with tons of power. Finally, I don’t think it’s fair to compare the build and features of this reel to the ones I have that cost me several hundred dollars. At this price point I feel this reel delivers far more than one would usually get, or expect, in this range. I’ve been beating up several Sougayilang rods and reels all summer with absolutely no problems so I’m excited about getting this one into the rotation.I do agree that it would be nice to have some instructions on how to use both front and rear drags and what the heck is that rear lever for? Below is a brief explanation but look up how to use a “baitrunner” reel for more info and you’ll see how cool the feature is, if you’re going for really big fish and you’re just leaving the rod in a holder to wait. The front drag works just like all the others so set it as you normally would. The rear knob is the secondary drag that only engages when the lever is flipped, in this case up and towards you. When the lever is engaged, adjust the rear drag by turning the knob. Now just cast your bait and flip the bail down like normal but now engage the rear by flipping the lever and place the rod into the holder. What you now have is a more gentle drag from the rear which lets the fish take the bait and run with it but not pull your gear out with it. You can then pick up the rod and either flip the lever or just start reeling and it’ll do it automatically. Now everything is back to normal and you’re playing the fish using the front drag, like normal, and the rear is disengaged. I hope that helps! All in all, obviously I’m a big fan so it’s definitely a recommend to buy for me!

MASSIVE offshore reel!
I have several Sougayilang rods and reels and overall have been very satisfied with them, with the odd dud here and there. I have a few 6000 reels and they are pretty big so I was super interested so see how big this 12000 reel would be and I was not disappointed! This thing is massive, it almost looks like a movie prop or something meant to make the user's hands look more dainty. Like all Sougayilang reels, you can't complain about the looks. But while they usually go for flashy colors, this is very sophisticated looking with a combination of matte and glossy blacks that give it the appearance of a piano black finish coupled with carbon fiber. This reel is so large, it is not really meant for traditional bank casting--this is intended for offshore use and trolling. It has a front drag system but also a bait runner tension dial on the back that allows you to let a fish run with the bait for a bit before tension is applied, and then you can turn that feature off in a second by flipping the large switch. In this way, it offers some of the same conveniences of a bait caster with brake or trolling reel where you can set the hook before you pull the rod out of the holder. My only complaint is that the manual is confusing about this feature, which it misidentifies as the anti-reverse lever. Mind you, the reel does have an anti-reverse switch, but the big one at the rear of the reel is not it.The third knob on this reel is for tightening the tension on the handle, which will need to be done when you take it out of the box. Just keep tightening and the handle will no longer be "flexible." The handle can also be switched to the opposite side if you prefer to reel in with your right hand.I haven't had a chance to use this in the wild yet but will update my review if it fails to live up to expectations.
