I LOVE this book
I am a math tutor who works with homeschoolers from 9 to 18 years old. I ordered this book as I browsed one day and am completely thrilled by it. Everything about it is inviting for students aged 9-14(?): The paper it it printed on has a very pleasant texture, almost like thick rice paper; every page has colorful pictures and text arranged in an energetic (but not chaotic) way; there is something for the student to do with colored pencils, or compass, or sissors, or rulers, or graph paper on every page in service of interesting math ideas. The ideas themselves are ones typically found in texts or other books to open up the math world beyond computation for students but which rarely engage students in any real way. This book not only engages the student with the ideas but promotes creativity in the use of them. This is certainly NOT another math book, and I am going to buy additional copies for my grandchildren as well as some of my students. What a great find!

Keep in mind....
I bought this product used, so I shouldn’t have been too surprised to learn that there was writing from the previous owner on a couple of the pages, but besides that it’s an amazing book that makes learning so much fun!

Interesting & fun way to combine Math & Art
This book is definitely different than most other math books. It uniquely combines art & math using games and art projects to illustrate math concepts. We used this in combination with Vihart (youtube) videos ~ which move quickly, but are interesting, even for math students who are less interested in math. It makes math fun and practical in a real-life way.

An artistic view of math...helping our brains see patterns
This little book has been a great addition to our math units. It combines the perception of math in an artistic way which is a good reinforcement providing the patterns and rhythms of math for which our brains seek to establish...organization of thought and perception.

Fun book!
My 8 year old son really enjoys this book, and actually asks me if he can work on his "math book." Anything that gets a kid interested in doing math is great, in my opinion!

Art and Math
I have used this book with students grades 4 to 10 and they all love it when I bring out this book. The projects are intriguing and have initiated many interesting mathematical conversations. It is a nice break to the regular math class.
