Excellent Keyboard!!!!

UPDATED REVIEW: 5/19/25 - I've had this keyboard for a month now and I am so pleased with it. I functions perfectly, love the way the keys sound (not too loud but people know my fingers are flying), the backlighting is so nice in a darker office, which is how I prefer it. I hate fluorescent lighting so never turn the overhead lights on. I have naturally long nails that I spend a nice coin on to keep looking professionally manicured and the keys on this keyboard seem to be customized for just that purpose - long or short fingernails, your fingers won't slip off the keys. I think that's probably really important for some of the ladies reading these reviews.I've owned and used a myriad of wireless keyboards. This one tops them all. I will only ever buy and use ProtoArc. And no, this is not a paid ad. This is a genuine review. I paid for my keyboard myself.First and foremost, I’m a keyboard snob. Truly. I’ve been a paralegal for nearly 20 years and spend my whole day in front of a computer. Prior to that I worked in medical billing again spending my whole day on a computer. You could say I’ve spent my career typing. As such, I am VERY particular when it comes to keyboards. When I find one I really like, I hold onto to it until its demise. By then, that model has usually been replaced by something else.I was reluctant to try this keyboard. I’ve hesitated buying anything new for more than a year eking out the last bit of life from my old one. I’ve read many, many reviews about many, many ergonomic keyboards. I originally purchased an ergonomic Lenovo Go but you had to buy the number pad separately and it just was a hassle to not have an integrated number pad. The keyboard itself was nice but had its quirks.I found myself searching again and coming back to this keyboard. After reading reviews from people who didn’t receive the item in exchange for their review, I felt confident that I should at least give it a go. I am glad I did. This is just my initial assessment but the keys are smooth strokes, the ergonomic alignment is perfection, and the leather wrist pad allows for smooth transition while moving across the board while typing. This keyboard has the feel of a super high end piece of technology. If you are hesitant I understand your reluctance. But I would highly suggest you try it out. Worst thing that happens is you return it.Good luck and best wishes for your keyboard search!

You need to read this if a keyboard is important to your work.

I rarely write product reviews, but this keyboard has saved me so much time that it warrants a shout-out to the world.I am a touch typist and I use my keyboard 4-10 hours a day. Four about 20 years I have used Microsfot Ergonomic (split) keyboards. I've worn them out. When my last one started to go, I decided to shop around.I tried two top-rated keyboards and was unhappy with the feel (one was just cheap) and the performance. Then I opened this keyboard and I was immediately impressed. Good design, it came in blue (my favorite color) and with clear instructions. Here's the most crucial part: The strokes are SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than on the Microsoft Keyboard. It's like a good laptop keyboard, but with an ergonomic design. And it comes with a rubber overlay that provides an even better tactile feel for the keyboard, and I slip less. The result? I make a lot fewer mistakes, and I must be typing 25-50% faster than I used to as a result.WOW!ANOTHER BONUS: This device features two Bluetooth channels, which is particularly useful for me since I work with two computers at my desk (don't ask, it's complicated). It takes just a push of a button to switch between them. WONDERFUL! I LOVE IT! It saves me even more time, and I get an excellent keyboard without having to buy two!Occasionally, I need to resync with the Bluetooth due to an issue with one of the computers. Still, the keyboard has a special sync button that opens the Microsoft Windows Bluetooth configuration setting, making it fast and easy.I highly recommend this keyboard for anyone who values a good keyboard. And for anyone who doesn't know the difference, try this keyboard and you will understand.

Display Fn status = 5 stars

I've used Microsoft 4000 keyboards on my Windows PCs for years. I needed to replace one, and selected the ProtoArc EK01 plus. Bottom line - terrific, and pretty much worth 5 stars. So why did I give it 4? One annoyance, which is:As usual, the top row has 12 function keys (F1-F12) each of which has a second "special" function (e.g., F1 key can = decrease screen brightness). You toggle between the two sets of functions (F, and special) by pressing the ESC key at the same time as you press a key labeled "Fn" (ESC+Fn). The problem is that there is no indicator to tell you which of the two function sets you're currently on. The only way to find out is to press one of the twelve keys, and see what happens. For example, if I press F1, and a help window pops up, I know I am on "F"; but if, instead, the screen dims a little, I know I am on "special".The fix would be easy. The Caps key (toggles caps lock on & off) has a small LED in the top corner. It's off when caps lock is off, and turns green when caps lock is on. It would be very useful to have something similar on the ESC key (or on the Fn key) to show which of the two functions modes is currently active.

This keyboard is an absolute treasure...

This keyboard is an absolute treasure right out of the box. I've been looking for a suitable replacement for my Microsoft 4000 keyboard of 10+ years. I tried the MS Surface fullsize Bluetooth keyboard for a couple of years until the letters recently wore off. The ProtoArc Keyboard solved my KVM problem while improving my typing with the ultra responsive keys. Being rechargeable instead of using batteries, and the long battery life is a big win over the MS Bluetooth keyboard as well. The white version of the keyboard came with a washable silicon keyboard cover that improves the overall feel and typing experience. With the no slip grip texture of this bonus cover allowing for much better finger placement it promotes greater accuracy.
