Blaster Surface Shield Black Series, Professional Automotive Undercoating for Rust Protection and Corrosion Prevention, 1 Gallon Pail, Pack of 1

This seems like decent coating. Goes on easy, although it's messy. I'm trying to stave off some rust and rusty frame damage on my 2009 Ford Escape. Luckily the sub-frame/engine cradle is still intact, so I'm using this to keep it that way. The black color goes on easy, and you can see where it's going, which is good. The black seems to coat better than the clear, which comes out with a little more "foaming." So I'd definitely recommend black for undercarriage application. I put it on in low temperatures (about 32°F, so right about freezing point.) It doesn't seem to "creep" as others have mentioned. But that may be because it was cold out. I bought a six pack, with the trigger button spray nozzles. I did the back half of my small SUV, and the inside rocker panels with four cans. Granted that was also spraying inside where the frame was rusted away. I plan on doing the front frame, and suspension parts this coming weekend. I believe when it's finished, I'll have used between six and eight cans. It's messy. Even avoiding a lot of overspray, it drips off the vehicle, and lands on the ground. I used a sheet of cardboard to catch the drips when applying, and after they initial drips fell, no more seemed to fall. So you can move the cardboard/tarp/etc around to where you're actively spraying. I can't talk of the longevity yet, since I'm only on day two, and it's been at or below freezing. But I can say areas I sprayed with a decent thick coat appear to have thinned out a little. So I'll be on the lookout for areas where the spray "thinned" itself out. I'd definitely recommend this product. As other reviewers seem to love it. And it's good to get some kind of coating on the rusted metal. (I wish I knew about this stuff years ago. I have to junk a Ford Taurus because the frame essentially rusted in half.) I'm leaving some photos of before and after. If anything noteworthy changes, I'll update this review. I'm in Michigan. So pretty much the worst area for weather and salt/road damage.

Watched a few videos and applied today. Went really well and the black really did make the frame that had light surface rust look nice and black. Happy with the purchase. Live in south so don't expect it will get a good winter and salted road test but confident it will help keep things easy to service and looking good

Do some research and discover that this material will typically last twice as long as Woolwax. I have used the clear type and black type on my pickup truck. It can be a messy project, just be careful and cover things you do not want to be coated, like your garage floor. Time will tell how this holds up after a winter or two living in the rust belt. But if my research is correct, I am hoping this will do what others have claimed. Also best time to apply it is during the summer so it becomes more fluid and creeps into all of those crevices. But keep in mind, it can also drip down on to your driveway and leave a stain.

I got the 6 pack. I was able to do my 2015 Chevy Tahoe. Seems to be doing the job so far. A little messy but I just put down a big piece of cardboard. Make sure to wear Goggles and a mask. I used 4 cans. I'm sure you can get away with 3. I sprayed everything and everywhere I could, I took the spare off too. It's November now, I'll update in the spring.

Works good. No straw or way to use one. Couldn't get in the frame. Better for open surface stuff.

Was easy to apply and the black looks good over some rust spots. I covered my brakes with cardboard and also used another piece to shield the exhaust as I went along. I do have a 20 year old lifted jeep wrangler TJ so didn’t even have to put it on jack stands. I used three full cans and even sprayed the behind the wheels. Have three more cans left for when it gets closer to winter to give it a refresh if even needed. I would recommend one of those 24” long nozzle extenders that click on for spraying inside the frame as they rust out from the inside first as water gets trapped. The nozzle sprays out the sides.

I wouldn’t really recommend unless your vehicle never sees the elements, it applies well but every time it has rained it almost always washes off where the frame is exposed to the water. It goes on fairly thick but doesn’t seem to adhere very well the finish is not what I expected it’s definitely low odor after applying but not worth the cost even at the lower price I spent a lot of time prepping and applying and I feel like it was a waste of my time and money and I will have to do it all over again in the spring. Probably going to choose a different product next time.

My only regret it not doing it years ago. Seems to last a long time after application so I’d advise that you knock out all your maintenance/mods before spraying otherwise you’re gonna get filthy wrenching around the stuff.
