well worth the money
I was hesitant to purchase these at first because they are so expensive. But they are well worth the money. I am a massage therapist and regularly ice my hands and arms. These are the most versatile and longest lasting of the products I have purchased. They freeze solid, unlike the gel bead ones, which makes them last way longer. They double as a carpal tunnel brace keeping the wrist in a neutral position. They are roomy enough that they can be pulled up to my elbow, or over my fingers like a mitten, or with both of my hands in like a muff, or wrapped around my knee and so on. (these wrap one and a half times around on me. ) The ice packs are removable / replaceable. You can purchase additional ice pack inserts on amazon. these are great. I highly recommend them.

Wonderful from the Start
I ordered this because I had to ice my wrist for a few weeks, and neither an ice bag nor an all-purpose wrap worked. The ice bag kept falling off, and I couldn't do anything while using it: I couldn't even read a book or magazine. The all-purpose wrap was so large I couldn't tighten it to keep it put where I wanted it. In addition, the all-purpose wrap wasn't very long, so I could either ice my hand and part of my wrist, or my wrist and part of my forearm -- but I couldn't ice the five- or six-inch area that needed to be iced. This product does everything I need it to do. It wraps securely around my wrist. It covers everything from where my fingers meet my wrist to more than half-way up to my elbow. There's a thumb slot, so I can actually do some things while the ice wrap is on. I can read, drink, eat, and do household chores (not that I want to, but I can). Best of all, I can keep this wrap secured to itself, pop it into the freezer, take it out, and slip my hand into it, find the thumb-slot with my thumb, and I'm ready to go in an instant. The material that freezes is held in place by the outer blue covering and by black nylon-net type material on the inside. My forearm gets a bit colder than I'd prefer, but this is minor, because my wrist and arm feel great after icing. The one thing I can't tell is how this product will hold up to prolonged daily wear, say three or four months. The all-purpose wrap-around started to leak after about three weeks, so it was a waste of money. I hope this one lasts a long time.

Great Concept, Convenient, but Questionable in Build Quality
Update: I've been using two of these things regularly for over a year now and they're still holding together, but only barely so. Despite being cheap feeling, the "wrap" part of the ice wrap has survived acceptably although the velcro straps are on a death watch by now. My original review was for two stars because my first impressions were terrible. A year later it's become my first choice so I guess you can say I've gotten over thost first date jitters, but I'm still not thrilled about the material quality of these wraps. If you're having problems getting it to mold well to your hand, take out one of the ice inserts so you only have two. The wrap begins to fit and work much better once you only have two inserts instead of three. They should only be on for at most 15 minutes of direct contact so you don't really need that third insert to help you ice down for an hour. You'll probably discover the trick of removing one of the inserts accidentally anyway as those ice inserts are surprisingly fragile. I'm a fan, but only because there's nothing else better. I'd like a sturdier version of this, but this is the best that I can get. --- I used to be a physical therapist so I know a thing or two about proper icing. I also suffer from RSI as I'm now a Web Developer who has been behind a keyboard way too long. This product sounded exciting because you don't get much better than real ice when applying cold therapy. I could see this being more useful if you're heavy set and have more rounded hands and wrists or if you're getting a similar ProIce product for a less bony part of the body. As for people of more average dimensions, the problem with the ProIce wraps is that the coverage is spotty because the ice capsules are solid and don't conform to your body so you get your bony prominences and more fleshy areas nice and cold, but you'll find perfectly warm spots in between. If you have pretty widespread RSI as I have, this just won't cut it. It still helps and I use mine regularly, but they're a backup ice pack for me to use when the other ones are refreezing or if I need to be able to use my hands a bit while icing. I also wasn't thrilled with the construction quality. They may still last a long time, but the fabric wrap FEELS flimsy. In the picture it looks like the material is a heavy neoprene. It's not. It appears to be a stretchy cotton-poly blend. Also it could use a third velcro strap for the middle to improve compression and contact. Even though the ice inserts are removable, you wouldn't want to do that because the velcro fasteners are very difficult to undo and the ice inserts are really difficult to re-insert. The plastic edges keep getting caught in the mesh underside. Trying to remove and reinsert the ice inserts will give you RSI if you don't already have it. These are a lot better than many products that pass for cold packs these days, but if you really need to seriously ice your hands front and back, I'd recommend getting an elastic bandage and a large Chattanooga blue vinyl ColPac and wrapping it around your hand and wrist in the same manner as the ProIce. It's less convenient, but it'll work a lot better and those ColPacs last forever. If you just need to ice your wrist at the base of your palm, nothing beats ice massage for 8 minutes with ice frozen in a styrofoam cup.

still doing a great job freezing your extremities while retaining finger motion
The pro-ice team is still making the same great hand/wrist ice wraps as they have been doing for years. If you dig having some freedom of movement while you chill your extremities, these will do it. True, the fact that sometimes if you accidentally freeze the wraps in a weird shape they won't curve around your arm perfectly might be considered a minus for ease of use - well, you have nobody to blame but yourself. ;) If there's a real downside, it's just that it takes quite a while to freeze before use. I usually have to have them in my icebox overnight. If you know you are going to have to use them multiple times in a day, you might need multiple pairs of these to swap out.

Really cold, feels great! Stays put and is versitile.
This can get really cold if you want it to, quite a big cooler than the other reviews made it sound. I have wrist pain from too much office work and the gym. I love the Velcro straps and it fits well. Adaptable to other body parts (knees, elbows, etc.) as well--just don't use the thumb hole. This does the trick nicely, best wrap I've ever purchased. Reasonable price and quick shipping from this seller.

I can still use my fingers, but it needs a better barrier between skin & ice
I have been looking for a way to ice my left hand after yoga because I have tendinitis in my wrist & thumb. I wanted a way to ice the joints but still maintain use of my fingers & be able to move around the house. This is a great size, and I like that the ice packs are in small sections instead of being one giant gel pack. This makes it easier to manipulate around a specific joint and ensure that everywhere that needs ice is touched by the ice pack. It stays cold long enough (you should generally be icing for 20 minutes at a time, and it definitely lasts that long). The reason it's getting only 3 stars however is that there is a flaw in the design. It is designed so that the blue fabric, a nice barrier between ice & skin, is on the outside, and all that separates your skin from direct contact with the ice packs is a mesh lining. This direct contact is *way* too cold - why is there only mesh? Anyone who has ever needed to ice an injury knows you don't put the ice directly on your skin! That's a quick way to get an ice burn, and it's not even comfortable! I tried turning it inside out, but that was awkward because I had to twist the straps & find a way to secure it closed. I then tried using a kitchen towel. This was a good barrier because it was not too thick, but since it was much larger than the wrap I was left with fabric hanging around my hand. This would be the PERFECT ice wrap for hand/wrist pain if it had a sufficient amount of fabric between your ice & the skin.

3 years of use, no issues
I wanted to come back and write a review for this because I realized that I've had it for 3.5 years and all of the inside ice packets are still intact. You can use it for your wrist, your elbow, and (if you're on the small side like me) even your knee. I've seen some debate in the reviews about how cold it gets... it's ice, not a "cooling gel" or anything, just plain frozen water so it gets as cold as your freezer is set to.

I've been using these for three years and they have been life changing.
A little more than three years ago I started suffering from agonizing pain in my arms. The only thing that would calm the nerves in my arms and get the pain to stop was cold. After soaking my arms in ice baths several times a day for a few weeks I finally had to come up with another solution. I found these, an even though they cost a lot I decided to order one. I only had it a day before I bought a second that night. It was amazing I could ice my arms and still use the computer, make dinner and pick up my kids. They have proven to be very versatile and I have used these on my hands, wrist, elbows, upper arms, knees, and ankles. My only complaint is that sometimes they are too cold against my skin and I have to use some sleeves that I cut off of an old shirt to put between my skin and the ice packs. In the three years I have been using them I have had to buy one replacement icepack after my four year old broke it. After 3 years of almost constant use they only show a little wear and have really held up. I love these ice-packs they gave me my life back. I took two months for me to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia and six months to be diagnosed with autoimmune arthritis and a bunch of other autoimmune issues. I'm now on medication and have a better control of my condition but I still use them a few times a month whenever I have flare-ups. Thank you.
