Works with Subaru and FreeSSM.
Bought this lead to connect to the laptop and use FreeSSM on my 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX.Plugged it in, installed the drivers by going to device manager and choosing install automatically from the internet, you don't even need the disk. The software you want can also be downloaded online, including VCDS. Or in my case FreeSSM for Subaru.

Wasnt the one I needed
Apparently there are two of these online - an expensive one and a cheaper one. I took the cheaper one, its not the correct one. I had to buy an original part for three times the cost. I have no idea if it works or not, I just know it didn't work with my Triumph despite updating the driver software.I put a good score for easy to use - in theory you just plug it in... it doesn;t work, but its easy to use.

ONLY WORKS WITH VCDS LITE VAG cars 2005 and older!
This does work, however only with VCDS Lite, which only works on older VAG cars - 2005 and earlier.The install is straight forward, the CD provided however is useless - there are plenty of videos on the net to help.One the cable is plugged in to your computer, head to the device manager, find the cable in the list (USB-SERIAL CH304). Note what COM number it is and open your VCDS whilst plugged into the car - ensure you select the correct COM number on VCDS Lite - it will then connect.Hope this helps.AVOID if looking to use on a newer VAG car (2006 - onwards)
