Easily customize embroidery projects with Sulky's water-soluble stabilizer roll
I've been using the Sulky Solvy Water Soluble Stabilizer Roll for my embroidery projects, and it's been a game changer. The roll is easy to use and can be cut to any size, which is great for customizing to my needs. The water-soluble feature means that I can simply wash it away once I'm done stitching, without any residue or damage to my fabric. I also appreciate that it's sturdy enough to hold up during embroidery, but still easy to tear away after washing. Overall, I highly recommend this stabilizer roll to any embroidery enthusiast looking for a reliable and versatile product.

Does the job
I just started the hobby of machine embroidery and this topping is one of the first things that I found was necessary for some type of fabrics, especially those that have a deep pile or texture. Most of it rips off fairly easily after embroidering but the rest has to be removed with water. It is very sticky when wet but does fully dissolve. It’s not as easy to use as I would like since it is very thin and clingy but I find that floating it on top of the hoop works best for me.I did use the suggestion to dissolve the excess pieces in hot water and I put that into a spray bottle and found that it worked well to stiffen the fabric. However I found that the mixture in the plastic bottle spoiled and turned gray. I then read a hint that adding rubbing alchohol to the mixture keeps it from going bad so I tried that and so far, so good.It does the job that I need it to do so I will continue to purchase it.

Try it wet, goes farther!
Bought for wife, she say's: "I bought this for machine embroidery thinking it was iron on, OOPS. But I discovered that dissolving a yard of the stabilizer in hot water, put it in a small spray bottle and sprayed the fabric AFTER I put it in the hoop. Then let that dry in front of a small space heater. That made the fabric tight as a drum and very stiff. I always had issues getting the fabric tight enough on the hoop, but this way it shrinks a little as it dries and tightens it that way.Actually I was able to do more embroidery with the spray than with it dry and tacked onto fabric! So it turned out to be of good value. And my machine did better embroidery with the fabric being stiff from the spray RATHER than stitching or ironing the Solvy to the fabric. So I was pleasantly surprised. I actually like this better than ironing on stabilizer, or stitching stabilizer to fabric. And after your done just throw it in the wash to remove stabilizer. Instead of having to pick at every stray piece of tear away stabilizer that is left on the fabric after embroidery is done. Which I usually had to use tweezers to get all of it lol, but this way I don't have to worry about the embroidery looking sloppy from the tear away stabilizer scraps left behind."

Works well, disolves instantly, can be tricky to pin
This works well to prevent knit fabrics from stretching as you sew them. Then it disolves and disappears instantly in the water stream from a faucet. It doesn't even need hot water, room temperature tap water works fine.It is very thin and flexible, similar to plastic food wrap, except it's not stretchy and doesn't cling. That makes it a little challenging to get pinned down. It helps to cut a piece much larger than you think you need, then use masking tape out at the edges, before pinning near where you're working.

Why does it shred?
I bought this to do freestanding lace on my embroidery machine. The small pieces work beautifully. It washes away easily and is easy to use. However, the larger pieces did not fare as well. When there was a lot of stitches the material shredded away and ruined the lace. Not sure why it does not hold up as I have never heard this before. For now, I will use it for small bits and the cloth-like wash away for the larger pieces.

really useful item
this stuff is awesome. my hous eis a bit damp so it nearly melted and it is quite thin but its bloody awesome. you can melt it in water and dip fabric in it to make fabric hard enough to sew, which i did with some vintage silk i have that is very very delicate and i could never use it. you can snadwich scraps or threads inside two layers and sew over it to create cobwebby fabrics out of old bits and bobs. i made some butterflies with the floor detritis which was satisfying. and it doesnt stick to the iron which is fab. you can wet fabric and lay it onto the clingfilm type stuff and then iron it and it sticks to the fabric but not to the iron. i believe there is a sticky version of this as well which i will try next. very pleased with it as other interfacings are just not pleasant when working with silks, they are always made of the cheapest most aweful nasty synthetic stuff and it just seems a shame to use such horridness when using silk threads or embroidery threads.
