This is a genius little tool to have. Perfect for quickly removing and old line or to transfer line onto another reel. For 10 bucks, it easy on the wallet too! Keeps everything organized and makes it so that you can do this quickly and without assistance. Tried one and love it. Definitely picking up another. I'm very confused by the negative comments. I'm not sure they fully understand what they purchased.

This works great for respooling Rio lines, but it doesn’t work with SA, Wulff, Airflo and other lines that don’t have a square hole on one side of the spool.

Simple and does the job quickly of removing line and backing.

A very simple solution for a quick exchange of lines, even if you are out fishing and (heaven forbid) you have to change [Rio] lines. The problem with the setup is that it only comes with one spool which means you have to use Rio lines to have a second spool to use it with. I get the reasoning, but it makes me cranky using the Cranky.

Great idea but I switched line fromOne 8 WT reel to another and it wasn’t fun. It was loud and squeaky and uncomfortable. My hand kept cramping up, the handle kept popping out of the spool and it took forever. Needs improvements.

It is adequate for removing fly line and the two-piece spool makes it easy to free the line for storage. It is awkward for removing thin backing or monofilament line, and using this still requires assistance from my wife to hold the rod or reel alone. For the money, however, it is a bargain, and it breaks down easily and is compact for storage.

All my other spools for fly lines do not have a square hole on one side to fit on the drive crank

A great idea, however, in purchasing this, I did not realize you will need multiple spools (and the spools are proprietary) to really utilize the device - not recommended.

Did exactly what it was supposed to, made the job much easier!
