Orbi Compact Wall-Plug Whole Home Mesh WiFi System - WiFi Router and Wall-Plug Satellite Extender with speeds up to 2.2 Gbps Over 3,500 sq. feet, AC2200 (RBK20W)

This system has solved my problems! I have a small apartment but my router couldn't reach the other end because of interference from neighbors' devices. The mesh system is a great solution because I put the satellite at a midpoint and now have strong signal and great wireless speeds throughout the apartment. I have tried a relay point that in theory does the same thing but actually switches networks in a really annoying way when you move around. Mesh systems were a godsend for home networks. The orbi app made setup really easy. It guides you through the process and makes it pretty simple to set up a network with the same name and password so most of your devices switch over seamlessly. I'm very pleased with this system. The only cons for me are I would like more than one ethernet out to hardwire more devices in, but that's nothing a network switch can't fix. I also would like a USB out in case I want to connect a harddrive in the future, but again, that's something I don't actually need and I knew I wasn't getting when I bought it. All in all this is an easy 5 stars from me.

I replaced a traditional Netgear Nighthawk 802.11ac router that didn't supply good speed at the edge of the house. This solution allowed the wifi connection at the edge to go from 10-90Mbps (inconsistent) to 300Mbps consistently. Other areas of the house are now up to 400Mbps, which is the limit of my Spectrum cable. This solution is basically plug-and-go, so its perfect for unsophisticated users. For more advanced users, there's only one open ethernet port, so I had to add an unmanaged switch. The $15 cost was much less than upgrading to the Orbi with more ports. There is only one SSID used for both 2.4 and 5ghz networks, and it can be difficult to get your devices to use the right one. For example, I had a PC that kept connecting at 2.4 with 35Mbps. After playing with the client's wifi hardware settings, I got it to prefer the 5ghz network and move up to 80Mbps. There is a backdoor (using telnet) to allow for separate SSIDs, but I didn't try it. I also saw occasions when devices would connect to the satellite instead of the router or vice-versa. I would temporarily shield one to force the connection to the other. Which brings me to management. Both the app and the webpage have pretty good information. You can see each device on the network, whether it's connected to router or satellite, and which band it's using. But its tricky getting the clients to do exactly what you want (which is really more of a client-side problem then an issue with Orbi). It also looks like there are fewer 5ghz channels to chose from since the back-channel is using the upper range. Probably not a big deal unless you've got lots of other nearby networks. Overall, a very good product.

This Orbi wifi system is wonderful! We finally have reliable wifi in every area of the house, and never have to switch networks. Additionally, the Orbi system was incredibly easy for us to set up - basically, plug-and-play. We have a long house, all on one level, and have never been able to get reliable wifi end-to-end. For logistical reasons, our modem and router are at one end of the house, and all of our entertainment devices (smart TV, bluray player, DVR, etc) are at the opposite end of the house. Additionally, the house was originally built in the early 50s and added on to on both ends, so the original part of the house, in the middle, has plaster walls. The only solution we could find was a wifi "extender" placed in the middle of the house. However, this necessitated two different networks in the house to switch between, depending on your location in the house; and, still had spotty coverage for the entertainment devices, as the extender unit still had difficulty broadcasting signal through the plaster walls. With the Orbi system, we have no trouble placing the satellite device in a good location, and we now have reliable, convenient wifi in every area of the house. Thank you, Orbi!

I bought this to replace an older DD-WRT Netgear router that failed. My ~2,500 sq ft house is over 100 years old with really thick walls and I had problems getting a good wi-fi signal upstairs farthest away from the router. I thought a mesh wi-fi system would be a good option. Netgear Orbi seemed to be the best value for money based on reviews. The Orbi main unit certainly looks more attractive in the bookshelf than the old Netgear box. I used the Orbi app on Android to set up the system. Setup was easy and the router and the satellite unit connected right out of the box. On the downside, reboots between settings changes take a LONG time. I replaced the SSID and wi-fi pass code with my old router ones, and all my devices (including 2.4GHz only IoT ones) connected straight away. The router web administration UI is pretty basic compared to DD-WRT, but sufficient to my needs. Running speed tests and streaming from multiple devices at the same time, I was able to saturate my 100Mbps broadband easily from everywhere in my house. HOWEVER: My PC that was about 15 ft from the main Orbi unit and 10 ft from the satellite unit kept on constantly losing its wi-fi connection. When I powered down the satellite unit, I got perfect connection. The solution was to move the satellite unit as far away from the main unit as possible and lower the main unit signal strength to 75% from the web UI. It took some time to find the appropriate setting in the Web UI so this is probably not something a non-techie would easily figure out. All in all, the Orbi seems to be a solid product but for houses less than 3,000 sq.ft., the satellite unit is not really necessary.

First let me begin with Orbi is a must have if you have a large residence or office with multiple WiFi devices connected to your network. I know what it’s like to manually go a change my phone from 3g to 5g or change my laptop to 5g. Orbi does it for you. It is a smart router and the RBK30 is an amazing router/satellite mesh network. You can connect your devices to your satellite easily. I like the fact you have guest WiFi with out giving out the house password. The streaming feature for 4K was awesome as well. The fact it had and extra Ethernet port was a plus. Only wish it came with more. The option to add more satellites to extend range of your WiFi or to simple add more devices was nice. Over all a great must have for the home or office or even a business. I would recommend Orbi and the RBK30 edition to all that ask. When you get Orbi enjoy everyone. Don’t pass up having better WiFi.

Nice mid-range WiFi setup. Range extends to about a 40-50 foot radius from each unit (this is thru walls, unobstructed would be much further). I have it installed in a 2700 sq ft split level ranch house, and get full coverage through the entire house, and decent signal outside in a city lot size yard (a little weak about 30 ft from the house, but still useable and not overly slow). My isp service speed is 250 mb/sec wired, and I'll get between 120-180 mb/sec over WiFi using this router. I'm not sure if you'll get higher speeds with a faster isp connection or not, but it claims to handle gigabit speeds, so I'd assume it scales accordingly. I had trouble with the app setup (the app froze at different points across multiple attempts), but had no issues using the desktop computer setup. It's been installed for about a week, and I've had no speed or connection issues. Probably the best thing you can say about a WiFi router is that once installed, you just kinda forget it's there, and that's the case with this one. This hits a good price to performance point. There's definitely faster and more range-y products out there, and because it's using the WiFi 5 protocol it'll probably be obsolete by 2026, but for the money right now, this hits the sweet spot for me.

My home is 2500 square feet, so this router/satellite combo (RBR20/RBW30) seemed like a good fit. But it didn’t work for me. I could not get good bandwidth for devices that connected to the satellite. The best I could get for devices connected to the satellite was 1 or 2 bars (out of 4). I tried placing the satellite in every room of my home, but it didn’t help. The good news is this. When I unplugged the satellite, I got a full 4 bars for all my devices throughout the home, since they connected directly to the router. I tried devices in every room, and the router alone was better than the router + satellite. So apparently this router is good enough to reach every room of the house with no mesh network needed (and the mesh network only making signal/bandwidth worse). I’m satisfied with the router, but not with the price of the full mesh network that is not helpful. I am returning the router/satellite pair (for which I paid $180 + tax) and ordering just the router, which is now $100 on Amazon.

I installed this in conjunction with ISP change, and to free myself from the "Just OK" ISP provided Routers. The RBK20W has vastly improved the wireless experience in my house. I have Base set up on top of Kitchen Cabinet. I have one satellite set up in Bedroom on the outside wall nearest by Outdoor Deck/Pergola. I now have seamless WiFi everywhere in the house and on the deck with a single SSID. I get 500 Mbps at the router , 300 Mbps WiFi indoors, 200 Mbps on the Deck. The iPad App is pretty handy for checking status and SpeedTests. I did find that some of the secondary setup stuff was a little easier with a wired connect and Web Browser. The App connects over wireless, which resets a lot during setup. I only used the direct connect one time and use the App frequently. Router was not inexpensive, but still a good value. I would buy it again. A nice feature is ability to print a QR code for the Guest Network that folks can use on their own to get connected. I keep the QR code on my Fridge and point guests to it. I had to reset some of my smart plugs. Last time it did it, it took 30 minutes per device. This time it took <5 minutes per device. I am sure this is a result of a Stronger WiFi signal. I saw some mediocre reviews. I have not encountered anything negative with this router. It has been the easiest setup I have ever done. And it appears to work flawlessly.

Orbi two device pack is awesome for my three bhk flat providing 5 Ghz coverage across every nook and corner of the home while giving the comfort of single SSID unlike my previous wireless router. As a bonus Orbi offers much needed parental control in current scenario through Disney Circle support provided you chose premium subscription as it provides control over customised screen time and controls for all devices across home with an easy to use interface. Initially i was contemplating between Orbi and Linksys Velop three pack as both were at same price point but finally chose Orbi for the triband support that gives dedicated channel for Orbi back haul unlike Velop that shares same 5 Ghz along with other devices. While mesh Wifi is expensive compared to many other standalone wireless routers i would recommend considering Orbi mesh Wifi as a one time investment in current scenario as it gives lon term peace of mind and is scalable in case we have to expand physical coverage. Lastly Orbi had been very simple to set up and intelligent enough to even detect DHCP pool conflict with my fibre broadband modem and change its own DHCP pool to avoid the conflict.

In the era of work from home and home schooling, having reliable internet connection all over the house has become a necessity. Existing Airtel router (Huawei) failed miserably in the regard in a 2500 sft apartment. Adding a booster would mean a different IP address and break in VPN connectivity when moving between rooms + at least 2-3 boosters to cover the entire apartment. After much research, I went ahead with Netgear orbiRBR20 with 1 satellite. The router sits in the living room (center of the house) and the satellite in a corner bedroom which doubles up as an office room on occasion and has the most signal drop and interference from neighbors wifi networks. The router was connected to Airtel router via LAN cable and followed instructions on ORBI app (PS: didn't get any internet on LAN cable at first attempt, since airtel had disabled all LAN ports on the router!! Not sure why! Enabled via admin login on router settings). Once the internet on LAN was enabled, all router set up instructions on Orbi app was followed but internet was not working on Orbi router. Turns out, after a call to an awesome tech support exec at Netgear, that the router needs to be set up via orbilogin.com. this information was not available on any documentation provided with the router. However, must say that the tech support was very good and 15 min of work on the set up later, everything was working fantastic. Internet speed was pretty consistently hitting 150-200mbps in all rooms. Still a bit of a drop once you reach 25 feet from the router. Overall a huge improvement from before and very happy so far. Well worth the investment

The router itself is pretty easy to setup. The range with the satellite is fantastic as well. I don’t have a gigabit connection yet. But it holds my 300mbps connection really steady and well. The only down side I’d say is the lack of ethernet ports. You get 1 on the router and 1 on the satellite. While I don’t really use ethernet other than for connecting my Philips hue hub. For some who needs a specific ethernet connection setup. This may not be the best option.

I used to face a lot of issue with the network connectivity throughout my home. Specially with the current WFH situation due to COVID-19 restrictions, having seamless connectivity with high speeds became a necessity.Shortlisted RBK20 after going through a lot of reviews, videos and discussions with friends.This one is really good for a 1500-2000 sq ft apartment in my opinion.Having Tri-band is a really great advantage. Now I can move around the house the entire house without being bothered about connecting to a particular band/SSID. The router/satellite duo do all the hard work.Netgear Armor and Disney's Circle are added advantage.I have not tested yet for high end gaming, but i am using this for keeping 4 iphones, 1 ipad, 2 laptops, 2 smart TVs, 3 echo dots, and multiple other smart devices (plugs/remotes/camera) connect to the internet 24x7. And not facing any issue so far.One area of improvement would be to have an easy option in the advanced settings to have a separate name for the 2.4 GHz SSID. Most of the smart home devices such as smart plugs, do not support 5GHz band currently. Thanks Netgear!

Not going into the detail mesh networks have multiple signal frequencies travelling back and forth compared to routers which are based on unidirectional flow of signals! Google it for better understanding. For the product it works wonders! Signal strength is excellent covers the dead spots due to meshnetworking. Satellite syncing in initial process can be a little slow compared to competitors but once they do its hasslefree. I personally recommend 3200 version for bigger houses and those having 4k streaming and simultaneous use on ipads laptops and phones. Whereas 2000 will suffice for those with less of streaming and few users. Initially buy with only 1 satellite and check if its sufficient for your space requirements and add further if necessary. I was initially planning on 2 satellite variant but saved alot after going with 1 satellite and is very much enough for 2 floor 600 sq mt house. Keep both devices in open space like that on table top for best performance cerrtainly not under cupboards! Orbi software is intuitive and smooth no grudges there. Overall a happy customer and mesh network is the next big thing. Happy shopping :)
