this is a serious bit of kitchen kit
After deliberating for months about whether to get a mixer at all, never mind the most expensive one, I then had to decide which one. I canvassed opinion and read lots of reviews and to be honest in the end I went for this becuase I liked the look and style of it and I liked the colour [and I watched a demonstration on QVC where it was nearly £100 more expensive!]. But WOW - what a piece of kit. This is glossy and sturdy and there is nothing cheap about it at all. Every part looks quality and when you swith it on: it sounds like a well oiled machine. I made my first cake last night, so it's early days yet, but the cake was a great success and so easy for someone who is not a natural in the kitchen nor a gifted baker. It is weighty - so be prepared to leave out on display; but you wouldn't want to hide a thing like this away, and it does need room above it to lift the beater blades up- it won't fit under my kitchen cupboards. However, the weight means it does not vibrate even at the highest speed. You also need a proper spatula - mine doesn't fit the bowl properly, so it might be worth scouting around for an offer where you can get mixer and spatula together. I love it and am really glad that I took the plunge and went for the Kitchenaid - I think we will be very happy together. I also got the sausage maker attachment but I haven't used that yet. This is sturdier than the impression given in the picture[where it looks like a piece of cheap plastic]but it seems better value for money when it does arrive. Excellent delivery - ordered on Sunday and arrived on Tuesday - when you order something like this you don't want to be waiting around for it - it's exciting!

Why did I wait so long????!
I have wanted one FOREVER, they just look so pretty! I finally treated myself to one for my 30th and boy I wish I hadn't waited till now. Not only does it look beautiful, all red and shiny, but it is one powerful machine. I am an avid baker, cakes, cupcake, buns, quiches... I just dunk it all in now and watch it go! I feel kind of useless just standing there twiddling my thumbs while my kitchenaid does all the hard work. I used to buy the ready made frozen jus.roll pastry. Not any more...I make my own. I have started cooking from scratch since I got my kitchenaid, bread, pizza, apple pie. I almost bought a kenwood chef, but this not only looks better, snazzier and younger it really is a good, solid reliable machine. Please do buy it! Amazon had the best deal around.

KitchenAid Artisan KSM150 Update
Just used the mixer for the first time, speeds 1 & 2 do not work. With no attachments the mixer barely turns, with ingredients in the bowl there was nothing. I was making sponge cake at the time so the mixer was not under load. Waiting to see what happens with customer service. Update. Had purchased from Harts of Stur via Amazon. Customer service was superb, they collected the faulty mixer and replaced with a new one immeadiately. I received calls and regular emails updating me on the status of the replacement delivery. Would highly recommend the company wholeheartedly. Not quite 5 stars this is due to the cost of accessories and not the quality of the mixer.

LOVE IT the Ferrari of Cake Mixers
Probably like most people who view this item, contemplate for a long time as its a lot of money to mix a cake, bread or frosting! I was lucky and got it from a Amazon warehouse deal, but you will not be dissapointed with this product it is a thing of beauty quiet in comparison to all 5 other mixers that I have wore out, blew up or the balloon whisks detatched from the metal pole, with wear and tear :o( I say again it is like the Ferrari of cake mixers 10 speed and just a joy to use. I was as excited to open this as I am with new shoes! This one also comes with a plastic splash kerb which is detachable so is great instead of the old T Towel trick for icing sugar clouds & its a very deep bowl. I tend to ask myself for large purchases is it worth £1 a wear or use? Will I use it hundreds of times as its hundreds of pounds. Well I will, Will you?

Such a disappointment
This mixer might be the best looking accessory in your kitchen but it has a flaw: if you don't use it daily, it leaks oil. Kitchen aid accepts this and recommends to run it everyday. It's on their website. But unfortunately some life styles aren't suitable for using/running this product on daily basis! My first purchase of this mixer was leaking black machine oil and I returned and got a new one just in April, 3 months ago. And last week my organic meat got covered with machine oil while using the meat mincing tool. I had to bin all the beef, and definitely not happy with customer services. The customer service of KitchenAid is shockingly below average considering their price range. They don't offer return or refund, just say they can fix it for me but they don't guarantee it won't leak again. Like a joke! I wouldn't recommend this product if you want to avoid machine oil leaks in your food.

The original and the best
The KitchenAid Artisan mixer (choose your favourite colour!) is fast becoming a baking icon. Look at any cookery programme hosted by a top chef and the chances are that a KitchenAid will be sitting in the background. It may only have 300w power but years of experience with a 2007 model show it can cope with anything thrown at it. We bought the glass mixing bowl ( very useful to see what is going on) and a couple of other accessories that frankly have eye watering prices but they are worth it. Performance has been excellent with absolutely no issues. Suffice to say that the cookery schools that my wife has attended have also used KitchenAids and a professional baker that I know also has this in his kitchen. We had no hesitation in buying a second for family use. Expensive but worth every penny. Others may imitate but the original is still the best
