Seems to work
I got this for our bug-out bag for emergencies. I don't have anything to test it against right now, so I can't be 100% that it is giving accurate readings. However, the size is good and it seems well made. My husband said the instructions were decent, though I think we'll need to try it out more extensively when we have some time one weekend. I like that you can set an alert so that if the levels go above a certain point, it will let you know. That was the main reason I got it.

The instructions are quite clear and even explained why I couldn’t test it on the glow in the dark item I thought it would work on as it SHOULD be slightly radioactive but this counter won’t work on something using that type of radioactivity because it’s not a harmful type. Since I don’t live near a nuclear reactor, contaminated sewage treatment, or Chernobyl…I sadly can’t say if this works for sure but I can tell you that it does come with a clearly written manual that is easy to understand and my home seems to be clear of serious radiation. I’m hoping maybe my dentist would allow me to take it to my next xray appointment to see if anything happens with it then. Will update if he allows it and it does.

Is this thing real?
I was intrigued when I saw this as a product offering on Amazon. I can honestly say I never thought I'd own an item as exotic as a radiation detector not meant to avoid a speeding ticket. Like, to bring to Chernobyl if I had to go there even though I never will. It occurred to me that I have no clue what's a safe or normal amount of daily life atmospheric radiation to absorb, which compounds the fact that I have no baseline against which to evaluate the reasonableness or accuracy of any scores this device may register--regardless, even if it's spot on, I won't know if that's good, bad or indifferent. But, I have a son in high school who is really into science, so I thought he might get a kick out of it. And I wondered if merely ordering something like this might automatically qualify me for registration on an FBI watchlist. I will update this review if I'm invited to an interrogation. Or if there's a nuclear war and I get the chance to test it out before vaporizing.Unboxing: this comes in a box that looks like it might contain an old school MP3 player. With English in small letters underneath the printing, the packaging is emblazoned with what looks to my untrained eyes as an Asian language. The thick instruction booklet included might seem intimidating, but you'll quickly discover that's because it includes pages for every language. The device itself looks like a legit piece of electronic equipment. Conclusion: good for a gift to a science fan, I will choose to be satisfied with this product. The only way I can really know if it works would require being in a situation I'd prefer never to experience. Cool item to own, kind of like a space pen. The space pen claims it will keep on writing even upside down, at 273 degrees (maybe below zero?), with no gravity--meaning to test the claim I would have to be in a situation that I wouldn't survive to appreciate the test results. Now I have two products like that. Both pretty cool.

Doesn’t detect radiation
A cheap sensor is used. The reading almost never change even with radioactive source presents. A toy Geiger counter. Radiation detection is a joke. Cannot be serious. Waste money.

Seems to work!
This is one of those devices that you can't really test in normal day to day. My review is based on the ease of use and understanding of the device. That said, this device seems well made. The interface is easy to understand and it seems to function well. The screen is a good resolution and easy to see. I hope I don't have to use this, but I plan to keep it around "Just in case".

Good build quality, not tested yet
It has decent build quality, but it is plastic and very light and the fact is they don’t really treat it like a serious precision instrument. This makes me nervous. It’s supposed to function as both a detector and a dosimeter. I will have to wait until I have the opportunity to go to an environment where I can really test it. I don’t think a piece of fiesta wear is going to do it. It doesn’t detect Alpha Rays either by the way, but supposedly does gamma, beta, and x-rays. I don’t think I’m ready to give up my Geiger Muller tube yet.Looks serious enough and has the right numbers but:No calibration certificateNo detection point indicationNo caseYou want to trust your life to this? The manual even says it is a precision tool yet every precision tool in my lifetime has come with a calibration certificate and instructions on how to maintain or recalibrate. This does not, and it rather kind of feels like a toy, even though it’s nice, but the fact is that through its presentation, it is not, treated like a serious piece of equipment.

Pretty cool device!
I think this is a pretty handy tool for detecting radiation. I will admit I am no expert with this type of stuff. I just wanted to have something incase the need ever arises. It's super easy to use and provides quick readings. The display is clear and easy to read, even in low light. It seems accurate and sensitive enough for my needs. I appreciate the compact size and portability. It's pretty sweet to able to say I own my very own Geiger counter though I really hope there is never a day I truly need it.

A rare gadget to add to my backpack.
It arrived fully charged. It's operation is pretty intuitive. After starting at zero rads, it started measuring background radiation between zero and 0.11 uSv/h. There is a battery charge level indicator, alarm indicator and real time cumulative display. You can switch over to a chart which shows rads over time recorded. On the back is a clip which is sized for your molle system. I'll have to read the instructions to get an understanding of what I'm doing. But, the alarms are already preset for exposure rates. Just keep it out of sight when Spider-Man comes around.
