Does it matter if the capacitor I'm replacing only has 2 prongs?

Do you mean actual prongs on each terminal or 3 separate terminals? This is a dual capacitor. It has 3 terminals and each terminal has 3 or 4 prongs on each. The prongs don't matter as long as you have 3 terminals: HERM, FAN, and C (COM)

will this work in place of 35 + 10 uf MFD ?

as far as I know you must replace the old one with the same numbers on them

My old capacitor has 1 prong for the fan instead of 2 (other prongs look the same). other numbers seem right 440 vac. 35/5 - 50/60hz. will it work?
