I currently have roughly 360 using 19 shelves of the 28 I have created. They are adjustable, so you can configure them to your needs or wishes. I am able to get 18 single disc sized DVD's per shelf, thicker cases would mean less than that. I highly recommend this unit. I still have enough space for roughly 162 more DVD size disc's, I also use it for x360 & PS3 games. 4 of the shelves I adjusted to fit books of various sizes, which means the shelves do not have to be the same size allowing you to create additional shelves instead of losing space if the shelves could not be adjusted separately. It is important to make sure you place it on a level surface to get a smoother spin The mechanism that allows it to spin is made of plastic, don't worry it is durable and works very well, an uneven surface would create more friction requiring more force to spin it around and I believe cause the spin mechanism to grind and over time would probably need to be replace. Very happy with this unit, well worth the money. **Q: How deep are the shelves?** A: The shelves themselves are 4.5 inches deep, so CD/DVD/Blu-Ray jewel cases overhang the front & back by about 1/2 inch, but the total depth from the front surface of the cabinet to the back of each side is 5.75 inches deep (normal CD/DVD/BR jewel cases do _not_ stick out past the flat surfaces on each side of the tower) **Q: Does the 1000 lbs capacity 12 lazy Susan 5/16 lazy Susan in the frequently bought together fit this product?** A: It can be made to fit but it is not a direct replacement for the plastic bearing that comes with the DVD rack. The way the 2 bearings mount is totally different. The plastic bearing is retained at one point only using a cheap center bolt and plastic insert - in fact that would be the only thing holding the entire rack to the base if you assemble it as per the instructions. I bought the "1000 lbs capacity 12 lazy Susan 5/16" bearing and would highly recommend it as I don't think the plastic bearing is going to hold up over the long run. To make this steel bearing work however you have to drill a couple of "Access" holes in the base of the rack with a forstner bit of at least 3/4" diameter, plus you also have to drill all the screw holes to mount the two sides of the steel bearing to the rack wood. I used 4 screws per bearing half. It's not hard at all and gives you a much better product in the end. **Q: The reviews i've read says that i should get a stronger turntable bearing. your site offers two. which one will work better?** A: We purchased the 1000 lb. Capacity 12 Lazy Susan Bearing 5/16 Thick Turntable Bearings VXB Brand. Although they both seem the same. It does not come with screws, we used 4 small wood screws we had in our garage, and liquid nails adhesive on the opposite side with the bolt that came with the flimsy turntable included with the Media Tower. I do suggest getting the metal lazy susan though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good so far, but I have some long-term concerns *by K***N on 1 February 2026* Rating this 4 stars because after putting it together, it's fairly sturdy and holding up well so far. I had some fitment issues during the assembly process. Some boards were bowed and/or warped and required some force to install. Some pilot holes weren't quite perfectly aligned as a result, but once I got it put together, it's been pretty solid. My main concern for the long term is the base, specifically how it's connected to the rest of the shelf. The base is attached using some kind of special bolt, which doesn't seem especially sturdy on its own and I'm concerned that over time with the weight of a full shelf, that the bolt may begin to bend. The bolt is only supported by a very cheap-feeling plastic ring with wheels built into it meant to help guide and support the shelf as it rotates, but it's extremely thin and flimsy. If you're concerned about having to move this shelf after assembling it, I would recommend being very careful with it, as there is quite a bit of flex on the centre bolt when leaning the tower over. Best bet is probably to remove everything from the tower including the shelves, which are just resting on top of the pegs and are not secured in any other way, and carefully lift it with no less than two people. Just be very careful not to lean the tower on the base. Given the price of this thing and the amount of weight it may be holding, I would've liked to have seen this piece made of metal instead, maybe an interlocking metal guide ring with ball bearings like some kitchen turnstiles have or something like that. I feel like that would've gone a long way to fixing my issues with the durability of the base. As it is, the rotation is a bit rough and the long-term durability is questionable, but it's held up so far after a year or so with no issues. Otherwise, pretty happy with how this is designed. There's a lot of holes for installing the included pegs and shelves at different heights to accommodate different media. I have some shelves for dvds, Blu-rays, and CDs, as well as different sized video game cases from DS and 3DS to Switch, to PlayStation, to Xbox and everything in between. The flexibility is very appreciated, and the depth of the shelves is enough that you can even fit smaller books as well should you wish.
