My husband has low vision. looking for a metronome that will "speak" out loud the bpm that he is currently on. does anyone know of a brand that can do

I would ask an organization for the blind/visually impaired for suggestions if that level of exactness in bpm is important to him or for any musician with visual impairments.

The seller didn't understand your question. You would have to pick various settings and tell him "this is what 80 bpm sounds like", "this is what 130 bpm sounds like", "this what 60 bpm sounds like", etc. Once he knows what the various beats per minute (bpm) should sound like, he could get close to those times just through feel/sound/memory.

Generally, metronomes are to get down the rhythm of a song when learning it. They're mostly unnecessary after it is learned. There is also room for expression in music and tempo is something you can play around with. Not much music except for perhaps highly technical classical music would need the EXACT bpm and even then, music is expressive.

Metronomes are really for while a person is either learning the instrument and/or for learning a particular song in order to get down the spacing between notes more than exact bpm. Whether someone is sighted or visually impaired, don't get overly hung up on being super exact on beats per minute as long as the tempo of the song sounds accurate when played. In other words, consistency is more important than exact number of beats per minute. Consistency with the difference between the whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, and so forth within the song. Consistency between each click of the metronome, too. Some are inaccurate with the time in-between clicks and that's more of an issues that the exact number of beats per minute.

If he is playing known songs, he can adjust the beats of the metronome to match the beat of the song by sound listening to the song being played correctly and match it accordingly. I don't know of any metronomes that actually will speak "this is 120 bpm", for example or even just speak "120". There MAY be a computer program or app that does, but I don't know of any. I would guess if there are they would be either more expensive or something specifically made for the visually-impaired.

Does this metrenome allow you to choose any tempo between 40-208 bpm or only in multiples of two (ie. 40, 42, 44, etc.)?

Question 3

The led display randomly goes in and out. is there a setting i am unaware of?

How exactly do you adjust the volume?  i see no control marked "volume"...  where is it and how does it work?
