Advocate for peace and nonviolent revolutionary Gandhi is the 12th hero in the New York Times bestselling picture book biography series for ages 5 to 8. As a young man in India, Gandhi saw firsthand how people were treated unfairly. Refusing to accept injustice, he came up with a brilliant way to fight back through quiet, peaceful protest. He took his methods with him from South Africa back to India, where he led a nonviolent revolution that freed his country from British rule. Through his calm, steady heroism, Gandhi changed everything for India and inspired civil rights movements all over the world, proving that the smallest of us can be the most powerful. This friendly, fun biography series inspired the PBS Kids TV show Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum. One great role model at a time, these books encourage kids to dream big. Included in each book are: โข A timeline of key events in the heroโs history โข Photos that bring the story more fully to life โข Comic-book-style illustrations that are irresistibly adorable โข Childhood moment s that influenced the hero โข Facts that make great conversation-starters โข A virtue this person embodies: Gandhi's commitment to peace is celebrated in this biography Youโll want to collect each book in this dynamic, informative series! Review: Nice - Good Review: Beautiful book - Wonderfully constructed book. Never have they tried to teach history in a way text books do. What they have taught is what Gandhi stood for. In a gentle way this book shook my child's understanding of words like non violence, non cooperation and non possession. I wish there were more Indian personalities in this series.

A good book for introducing Gandhiji to kids.
The book is not like a full fledged story book. The content covers Gandhiji's story but each page feels disconnected. The ending is also sudden. The illustration is fun and it talks about all of Gandhiji's good characteristics in a simple way. The language used is US English. Kids around 5 definitely need explanation from an adult for certain words, it ll be easier for older kids. The book comes with a sleeve, which would be helpful for storing the book. The real photos provided at the end is thoughtful. It's good that his life story is covered from childhood. The book could have added a few extra pages and went a bit slow. The message at the end is really powerful and of value to kids. Overall, there is no other book that's quite unique as this book. Young children need to taught about these real life heros. This book makes it interesting and also informative. Kids should learn and follow a few habits from these stories.

Shaking the world in a gentle way
Another very well-presented book in the series that is excellent for children of all ages and entertaining for adults as well. Our 11-year old daughter has a passion for famous historical characters (as part of her interest in history). She prefers to read about a wide range of famous people of all ages and through this gains knowledge about different histories eraโs and societies. She has read a lot about the obvious female heroes like Florence Nightingale, Frida Kahlo, Madame Curie ect. However she really likes to know more about other people that she came across. So this range of books with its wide selection of topics is great, she has already the version abbot Leonardo DaVinci, Walt Disney, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Her younger brother likes these books as well. Of course it is mostly about the adorable cartoon style nature of these little books and how the relative simplicity of the storylines perfectly captures the essence of the topic. Simply brilliant. The 40-page book is very colourful and comes with a durable hard cover. And invariably the books lead to little discussions and questions about the topics afterward, which is invaluable. Like in most modern cartoon movies, these books are full of moralising themes and the storylines mostly centre around these. In the Gandhi book it is about taking a stance against materialism, non-violence and non-cooperation to battle discrimination. Weโre clearly big fans of the series , our little precious collection is growing and we look forward to a few more of these soon.

Great series
The whole series by Brad Metzler has been wonderful. Educational and fun for my 7 yo and 4 yo. Cute art, well written, provides what I feel is a good basic understanding of the important role these historical figures played. Hits the highlights without boring young children. Both boys love to read them. Nice change of pace from all of the star wars ans superhero books they usually read.
