Since I cannot easily, affordably obtain a wood corncob style, this fits the bill... About as compact as it can get.

I installed it on my shotgun a couple of days ago and I'm quite pleased. The material is much, much softer than the original one on my 870 and it grips SO MUCH easier. This piece not only looks better than the original foregrip but allows for a much surer grip for faster and surer feeding.I can't think of a better enhancement for my shotgun for this price range. For under 20 dollars, I think you'll be very pleased. It was fun to install, and there's lots of youtube help should you require assistance or need a clarification.One thing I STONGLY suggest is that you purchase the forend wrench. It costs less that 20 dollars and eliminated the chance of scratching or damaging your shotgun. The wrench also makes sure you get the stock on the shotgun tightly; you'll be glad you did. Scratches don't grow back. You know.. use the right tool for the right job.I think you'll get a real kick out of having this fine piece on your shotgun. I sure do. I wish you luck and fun with this.

This Hogue forearm grip is everything it is touted and reviewed to be! I received this in the mail, installed it(which was very simple and quick), and tried it out at the range. It functions/cycles well, grips securely, and is a snug fit. This aftermarket grip is a no-brainer in my opinion over the stock Remington 870 grip, and if you try it, you will agree. For the price you can't go wrong. The addage is "you get what you pay for", and this purchase exceeds the expectations. My 870 currently has the side saddle shell holder, and the Blackhawk tactical stock/forearm combo I purchased does not allow for the side saddle, but the Hogue grip fits perfectly! I wasn't skeptical about Hogue, but certainly wasn't prepared for the feel and fit! I have one or two of these grips on revolvers, and this company knows what shotgun owners like also. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!

It gives a good tactile feel to the fore end of the firearm. It is slightly heavier than a wooden grip. I give it 4 stars because it requires a separate tool to install. This is NOT a "drop in" modification.I recommend help form a buddy for the removal of the old hand guard, as the wood has probably shrunk since the initial install, and removing it will require a team effort. My recommendation is to have your friend pull the old grip apart, while you furiously pound the metal bits out.

I cannot say enough about this Hogue forend. It is truly awesome and comfortable. I love the texture and it truly helps to keep a more firm and confident grip as you cycle the gun. I would recommend it to anyone. Took me maybe an hour to change it out but that was only because I never did it before and had to watch a Youtube video to see how it was done. If I had to do it again, it would take me maybe 15 min tops. So basically it wasn't that difficult for an amateur like myself to change out (make sure you have a forend wrench).

Bought this to replace the stock forend on my Remington 870 Express Super Magnum. Had tried another forend from Mako (piece of junk) and was hesitant on trying another forend due to the cycling stroke of the Super Mag. I got this in the mail last night and installed it in a matter of minutes. It does allow for complete feeding/ejection of shells. Love the feel and doesn't have that "looseness" I had with the other forend.Have to reiterate that this thing does fit the Remington 870 Express Super Magnum without any mods and DOES allow the use of a side-saddle device.

This fits like a glove on my 870 Super Mag. took the old one off and this one on in under 5 mins, no modification required at all, with this new forend my 870 feels like it cycles better and smoother than ever and it fits my hand really well. A must buy for any 870 owner..
