The maximum clamping distance is just over 1.5”, what they are clamped onto is 1.5 inch Square Tubing. The maximum height under the add on shelf is 7.25”, I needed 8” so I cut and shaped blocks of cabinet grade, black plastic as spacers and used longer screws that matched the original metric ones that came with the unit, but longer to add needed height for proper attachment. Wood spacers would also work possibly.The clamping mechanism is strong and the shelf’s give me the extra space I need on the tables on each side of my recliner.A good ( clamp on ) shelf for wherever you need extra shelf space.

Board is cheaply made. It came dented, scratched and falling apart. Not worth the money.

Vertical is the way to go when adding more usable surface area to my desk. That's what I learned with this two arm desk extension kit. Now that my laptop is "above" my desk, my whole study area feels more spacious. Desk clutter is way down because with the extension I have enough room to organize my work tools and accessories appropriately.Assemblers was easy enough that I only scanned the directions.

This shelf is great with a design that saves desk space. Normally with desk shelves there are 4 legs when placed on the desk. With this shelf the entire shelf is supported by the supports in the back. The shelf is approximately 23.6 inches long and 7.8 inches deep and stands 8.6 inches above the desk. The only thing I think could be improved is the rubber feet that go on the screw to screw it against the desk, they have the potential to easily come off and get lost. Aside from that, this unique design is a winner and minimizes the space it takes up on your desk!
