This stainless-steel dough hook from the YANUS Store on Amazon is almost a work of art. It is well designed and executed without any flaws. I've been making bread for years using my 5-quart bowl-lift mixer with a very similar dough hook. They are called spiral dough hooks, and they are far superior than the old "C" style hooks from KitchenAid.The white dough hooks from KitchenAid, and others, are covered with ABS plastic, which can eventually chip. The plastic won't hurt you if you ingest it, but who wants to eat plastic? Also, once it chips it exposes the aluminum underneath and can no longer be put in the dishwasher because the dishwasher soap is corrosive to aluminum. This stainless-steel dough hook can be put in the dishwasher. That alone makes it worth it to me, because the soap and heat in the dishwasher sanitizes it better than most people will when washing it by hand.Recommended!
