Mega EverDrive X5

I thought it won't work, but the reason why is because I was using a Sandisk Micro SD card (never use that brand btw). So I use the Onn brand card from Walmart and it actually work! I love how people can put all roms with a bunch of features in a neat cartridge contraption because it saves consoles from e-waste, it helps a lot of emulation endorsements, and it saves a lot of money (so you don't have to doomscroll ebay just to fork 100-500 eagle tokens for a specific game you want).

Although there is some small incompatibility issues with this product, I love it. Its easy to set-up and is very functional. Great deal.

If you don't want to swap carts all the time, just want the entire Genesis and 32X Library in one place, or need a RAM cart for your Sega CD. Look no further. Works great. Just remember to format your SD card to fat 16. Put the OS for your cart into a folder labeled MEGA into the root of the SD card to get it going. You still need a 32X for 32X Roms but it works great. Being able to play Roms hacks on real hardware is just amazing.

This a great for what it’s intended to do. There is a great support section online to allow you ability to download updated firmware to get this up and running. What’s not included is where and how to get roms onto this device. That’s a google search.

The Mega EverDrive X5 is definitely not the "best" of the Mega EverDrive lineup, but if you were wanting a cheap alternative to the higher grade ones, this is it.The Mega EverDrive X5 might be more cost effective than a Mega EverDrive Pro if you weren't really wanting to play Virtual Racing and don't care for save states. An EverDrive in itself is a worth while investment no matter what model you get but this one I think has everything someone really needs, especially if you're using it to supplement a physical collection.It should be mentioned that on Krikzz's webpage for the Mega EverDrive X5, it has a link to download the OS version for the EverDrive X5, but don't use that one! When I tried using that particular version, it didn't want to boot some games. On the comparison chart it says to use v3x not v2, so make sure to download that one instead from Krikzz.

I was hesitant to get the X5 and not something more full featured. The X5 is everything you need to play/beat games as if you used the actual cartridge. The more advanced features such as save states aren't really that important of you're casually enjoying the SEGA. Load times are fast. I'm glad I saved the money over something more expensive.

This version of the Mega Everdrive is absolutely perfect for all of your base MegaDrive/Genesis retro Dev or play needs. I do some work on the MegaDrive and constantly ran builds on CDs for the Sega CD which got a little wasteful. I bought this with the intention of alleviating that and so far it's been perfect.Pros:1. Very good game support2. Custom program support3. Easy to use menu4. Fair priceCons:1. No included micro SD2. No instructions booklet for operation (for the less technically inclined, this may make setup frustrating)Conclusion:Just get it. When stuff like this first started appearing it was extremely pricey and finicky. Now that it's solid tech at an affordable price, it's worth it for any collector or retro Dev. My only gripe is the lack of SD card. They're cheap, one small and common one could have been thrown in for a slight price bump on the product.

What can you say, as a gamer especially old school retro, I lived through the glory years of gaming. I do enjoy the newer games but nothing brings me to back to my childhood days as firing up the old systems. This product combined with the correct pack is simply amazing. You can relive your childhood with a switch of a button. I own alot of games, but who wants to put the wear and tear on those old pcb's...I don't. You can load the pack and never take it out of your system, plus this does so much more than just play games. You have a party and you want to play that 16 bit soundtrack that your nerdy guests want to mosh to, load up the everdrive and hear that superb YM2612 chip blast. Want to play SMS...this does it as well, multiple SegaCD Bios..this does it. Simply amazing work, Krikzz is a pure genius. I was not able to test my 32x due to a flaky cable that will be replaced soon by a retro-acc cable, but I am sure those games work great.
